Hi, I wasn't sure where to post this, so I hope this correct. I am trying to build a tank style repairable atomizer, similar to genesis. I do not have a lathe and mill and I do not know who I can speak to for turning metals for me.. But for prototype I would like to use a material similar to stewalin.. I have been looking a lot lately through the forums, trying to search, but everywhere I look I can't find an alternative to stewalin located in the US.. I have to tried to get stewalin but it cannot ship to me.. Does anyone have any clue on what I should do?

poland, and the brassy lands of google
Looks like no one in Europe is willing to try sending one kilo of white powder to the US, how strange.

There was talk of two alternatives, Artestone and Autokrete, but I don't know what became of them. Have you looked into rebuilding a stardust, vision, or acme giantomizer with mesh? Maybe aluminum parts turned with a drill?

Yea I read about those two alternatives also the only one that i saw a test of was artestone so I wasn't sure about the other.. I kinda thought about rebuilding a vision but I just had the urge to make my own stuff ya know? :) and could aluminum be dangerous? could anything contaminate my liquid or if it gets warm/hot could it let off any toxins?

I got some Stewalin from the german Amazon.de lastyear. Used a translator so I knew what was going on. It was expensive to get shipped and took forever but it eventually showed up.

My advice is get into a co-op for a SS one. If you still want some Stewalin send me a PM we can maybe work something out

Alright that sounds like a good first step.. Is there any other grade than the marine grade that can be safely used? The one I found of McMaster-Carr is Alloy 5086 but I don't if that's the right one or if there is other places to buy it that may be cheaper/better. Is there any different/better specific alloy? DonG what aluminum did you you?

And how would I go by turning the parts with a drill? Thank you all!

Machining a single piece of metal without a lathe will be quite difficult. Suggest you read this thread for building a genesis with minimal tools:
