Update!

Tried once more, this time 7/8 twist 32g ss316l, 2,5 ID came out 1,8 ohmish.

Found out that 2,5 ID, even when using 32g wire, gives very satisfying results with wicking.

Used shoelace cotton (thunderhead), thinned it down 1/3 almost 1/2, put one end trough and started twisting the tip while gently pulling, got the cotton trough alright without any bending of coil.

Had to thin down even a little the wicks ends with combing.

Flavour is a little milder then 2ID 30g wire, but the cloud/flavour ratio seems oddly more sayisfying.

Hope that the larger ID and more cotton will result in a longer wicklife.

Came to the conclusion aswell that ss316l thinner wire coils are easier to replace then to re-use (cleaning/carefuldryburning).

Very nice man !

When i was trying to make vertical builds, after the coil wraps, i was putting the coil rod in air pin, so it was more stable and it was more easy to bend the legs and screw them down ! Plus, a little thicker wire can keep better the form that you give on it !
Oh, I am doing just the same, I use the coil rod to get it in place and remove the coil rod once the coil is screwed down tight. My rta is horizontal, so I have to keep a really steady hand.

Now it really got me interested what a vertical build looks like and how does it work?

I've seen some crazy builds where people have put cotton AROUND the coil, not trough it.

The coil was facing upwards and right below was the juice port.....have no slightest clue how could such a thing work....and is the heat coming trough the mouthpiece even manageable....

Guess I won't be sleeping....again

    Absolutely brilliant!

And I agree completely - just recoil when you rewick with such fine wire. With my first rta I was using 28g and half the time I recoiled when I needed a new wick. Mostly for the practise of coiling and sticking in a build, but sometimes due to me stuffing up the coil when pulling out the old wick.

Experimentation, is what I think one of the best things about vaping and rebuildables. So many times I've tried a different coil, and found a new favourite.

    Update!

Yesterday, I don't know why, but tried a 5 wrap 28g, ss316l in my oxva solo, it came out exactly at 0.6 ohm.

At 12w 180C in TC it produced a really smooth draw.

The 50/50 20mg menthol salt, however, almost muted and the throath hit was barely all that was left. It was still pleasant to vape.

Put in some 70/30 vg/pg juice, and come to realize that the juice that before tasted kinda awkward now shined to the fullest. It was good to vape it in mtl mode and even better in rdl.

    Conclusion:

30g and up ss316l wire is really good in mtl, 2,5 ID will make very good to wick. The juice and ID you use depend on the ohms your wire comes out in. Thin wire ramps up real fast, to get the best out of it, a higher PG would be better, thicker seems to put a heavy wear on the wick and coil, plus the vapor production isn't sufficient to deliver satisfying flavour. ID 2, I would use with 70pg 30vg with a nic salt 20-30mg, since higher pg is more thinner and wicks better, 50/50 as I've found, isn't enough at that level of wick and ramp up, to supply the coil with an ID of 2, 2,5ID for instance accomodates enough wick for 50/50 juice to keep up.

So conclusion here, starting from 28g and thicker wire, I would go for 70/30 juice, with a coil ID of 2,5 and going from 24g I would even upgrade it to 3, if the chamber can support that ID, for my oxva, I don't know, I would stay at an ID of 2-2,5, plus thicker wire than 26g would heat up the entire atomizer, so I don't have a need for that.

Starting from 30g with ID 2,5 I would use 50/50, If I want to go lower on ohms and more twists I would go fot an ID 2 and use a 30/70 vg/pg ratio.

With 32g, I found out 7 twists and ID 2 to be perfect considering the flavour, if I would have wanted my wicking to last for a while longer, should have gone for 5 twists and a higher PG juice.

Considering ohms 0,8-0,4, ID use 70/30 lowe ohms I gather I should use even higher VG, but I think in arbiter solo, I wouldn't want to go that far. (wire gauges 28, 26, 24) ID 2,5-3

    1-1,8 ohms 50/50, wire gauges 30, 32 ID 2-2'5

2-3.... wire 32 and thinner, ID go for an ID 2 and thinner juice 30vg 70pg.

Have to go trying out some other materials and wire types now, like ribbon or twisted moving up with the complexity.

So to get a great vaping experience, wire type, twist count, ID, wicking and the juice you want to use, have to all line up in harmonical coherence.

Twist count contributes to the surface area vaporating the juice, in means, more twist count-->larger ID, more wick....perhaps thinner juice....the twist count for me isn't all that important, it's rather to fine tune the vapor rate you get to the point where the wicking can keep up, or taking less twists to be able to downgrade to smaller ID for better flavour.

Thanks everyone for contributing to my knowledge to be able to experiment on my arbiter, it's been such a fun journey and more awaits.

I am dazzled about the experience I got out of a simple ss316l wire, thus I am even more exited about whats yet to come and I have learned alot and gained a little more skill thanks to all of it.

    Have a blessed day everyone!

Oh and 2-3ohms....ID2 - perfect mtl.
1/1,2-1,8 mtl/rdl 2-2,5 IDboth good, but not perfect.
....-0.6ohm- 2,5 ID 3? (havent tried 3, but you probably had to comb out, thin your wick ends alot, to fit in the ports and not to choke up the capillary feed) rdl, perfect, mtl still good/doable, if you want...

Its just maybe a rough guide, it all depends on the material you like your coils made of, coil type, twist count, the juice you use, the temps and watts you vape at and so on and on.....

Last night i built up 4 MTLs and 1 DL the one behind the other !
Right now i have my Expromizer 2.1 with SS316L 0.60Ω 2.5mm 5/6 wraps - 225 °C - 15W and it works perfectly for me... usually i don't count my builds so much, but always im somewhere in between these lines, and usually on the bigger decks i make my coils little bigger too - 3mm, and smaller on the small decks and im good to go... !

Wish I had that much time on hands to fiddle with all the builds, but one step at time or some wicking every other day keeps my mind at ease.

Its very satisfying experience indeed, while at first I had even problems not to get the atomizer short message every other time, then now, everything I build works like magic or I find the right circumstances where the build performs really well.

You kind of get a feel of things. I wanted to get the mtl perfect, because it seemed the most tricky or challenging, I knew I'd learn alot from this experience and wen't with a simple round wire and one coil atomizer.

By now I totally love my arbiter. I googled expromizer, seems like they have a v5 out too.

Whats the feature about the expromizer you like it the most, what makes it stand out for you compared to others?

It seems to me I just love the 28g 0,6 ohm coil, seems the most reliable build atm. The 26g wire seems to heat up the small chamber 2 much, the tank got quite warm after 3-5 consecutive puffs.

Yeah you are right, step by step and you are pretty good !
It was Saturday last night, so i stay up little late so i can build them and be ready to go... ! And because i make simple builds and i know them quite good after all these years, it's something like a nice little hobby for me... !
Right now i have olny one V1. 2 and one V2,1, (i had four V1.2 in the beginning) ! It's my first rebuildable atomizer and i bought it because i couldn't find the Kayfun Lite Plus at the time, so it has a special value for me and i end up like it much better than the Kayfun Lite Plus that i bought it later on... ! Basically i learned everything on it... my first steps... and i like it because it's pretty solid RTA has smooth airflow, little more air and little bigger deck than the Kayfun LP and it didn't hit like a mule in the throat, because with the KLP i was coughing al lot ! And also i like the collector tank below the deck, it keeps all the moisture and if there is any leaks in ! And last, all the the spare parts i had added on it, short tank, cage tank... something in between these lines... I think you can get my point of view... !?

Yeah me too, i only use single fine SS316L, probably around 28-30ga it depends on what i have close to me at the time... L☻L ! Yes, i think that the atomizer work better when it's warmed up because i use thicker juice... also this is another thing that i like on Expromizer... when i touch it and it's warm enough is ready to give all that it has... L☻L... !

Oh, so the little warming up is quite welcome even?! Wouldn't have come to that, so I guess its good until it doesent get hot and you don't burn your lips on the mouthpiece? lower then 24g perhaps is 2 much 4 arbiter, by that information I think I can freely use up my 26g wire aswell.

Yeah, i think so... !? Of course we are talking a warm up just to touch by hand, not hot as hell... and of course we are talking about MTL RTAs with simple builds and similar low Watts, and after 10+ chain vapes... !
( We don't talk about RDAs with very low builds with Watts straight to the moon and back... running them like Hell's Hell... L☻L ! )

I just found there was such a huge gap between 28g and 26g in terms of warmth, that i stuck with 28g.

If you want to try some different wire types just try out some twisted wire coils. As an example an 0.8-9ohm coil of a 2.5mm id 5 wraps 32g x 2 strands twisted has the same heat capacity (warmth & heats up/cools down speed) the same as a 0.6ohm 2.5mm id 5 wrap 28g coil.

I'm not sure if you already use Steam engine, but if you don't - it's a great way to compare coils. In the blue results box, look down for the Heat Capacity number. The smaller that number, the cooler the coil. And it heats up/cools down faster.

Haven't yet tought about twisted wires, but I am sure to give it a try along the line, I've got some ribbon wire I haven't tried out yet, kanthal and ni80.

And yep I do use steam engine, a great tool, I always look there when I am about to try something new.

    Update!

    Tried today 26g ss316l 5 twists 2,5 ID, 0,35 ohm, fired at 25w.

My mod is aegis legend l200, the TC for SS, the tcr value is at 0105, it overfired, giving a real cracle, the TC-TCR at the standard value for SS 0092 underfired, so I tweaked it to 0098, and it seemed to work, tho I think 0097 or 0096 should be the ideal value for that kind of setup, because at 98 I get a little POP toward the end of draw, which means it managed to overheat.

The RDL at this build was superb, mtl still doable, but RDL at this setup overshined the mtl by far, very very far. When I want to mtl at this setup, the tcr 0092 might be more correct, I'd start there and climb one number at time, becaus at my settings it seemed to overheat in mtl, because it has way less airflow cooling the coil then in RDL mode.

Luckily oxva arbiter solo has the most splendid super range for playing with airflow, thats what I think sets this atty way above of the competition, wheras in many other you'd have to take the whole damn thing apart to change the airflow-pin.

    Good evening everyone!

    Update!

Searching trough the vast internet, I found a piece of information I didn't encounter anywhere before.

Someone noted that the oxva arbiter solo was built to crackle!?!?!?

So I ramped up my tcr value to 0105 and I was mezmerized.

The flavour output companied by the quiet crackling was a totally different experience on it's own.

I tried longer draws and came to conclusion, that the ceasing of crackling whilst the draw, was a sign on it's own, showing that the wick was about to dry out, so you know when to pause and let the wick re-juice.

I take a wild quess that with different coil/airflow setups you'd probably get a different crackle aswell, have to experiment on this subject again.

Astonishing piece of engineering, every time I build on, I learn to appreciate my arbiter solo even more and more.

    Peace!✌️☮️

    Update!

Tried a whole bunch of different meanwhile. 26g ni80 and ribbon ni80 2x4, tried spaced and tight, both seemed 2 be 2 much, maybe should have used less power or so, will get back to experimenting with ni80 some later...

So recent success with 28g ss316l was awsome. 5 twists spaced coil 2,5 ID came out @ 0.6 ohms, I set tcr value to 0096 on my aegis l200, starting watts at 15 and max temp at 215, long draws in rdl mode, not a single spitback, not a single burnt hit. Smooth draws.

The airflows are quite wide apart, so it would suggest a smaller ID coil or more twists to add to lenght, because at 5 twists spaced 28g, it was a close call, a little tighter twist and the cotton would have started to suffocate the airholes.

I've found out the that the intensity of your draw and airflow cooling the coils, plays also a big part where you should settle with the TCR value, maybe on DNA mods it isnt a thing, but on my aegis l200 it plays a big part. Also in cold weather tcr becomes a little tricky, and they thickness and flow of juice can change drastically, higher PG liquids arent affected so much as thicker, so if I use my mod alot outside in cold weather, i'd go for a thicker wire then I am usually using at room temperature, also you might want to tweak up the TCR value a little, for you need more power then usual.

You can try the SS316L on 0.00092 ...!?
92 seems like ok on thinner wires like 30 or 32, but its tad slow on the 28g, atleast for me, it works but the flavour isn't anything special. I just recently found out that when my atty has been long enough in certain temperatures, it is relevant to disconnect and reconnect and doing so, calibrate it to the conditions you are vaping at, because in cold, it will not fire, and when going from cold where it works into a lot warmer enviroment, bang you get a burnt hit.
