I won't build my own..... because if you want it to work well, you'll need machine precision, and some not-cheap materials. Which when mass produced, does cut a heck lot of cost (think about how much they actually earn too). But of course if you have a copper foundry laying in your garage, why not? Would be super awesome to craft it

Of course you can build your own :) A good place to look for information on the subject would be here: Modding Forum | E-Cigarette Forum

You'll find a lot of good tutorials there, both for building an unregulated device or for building a regulated device using a variety of different components. Don't be afraid to dig deep into the older threads, as some of the tutorials from a few years ago are still good templates for building simple and effective devices ;)

For making your own juice, here's the DIY forum: DIY E-Liquid | E-Cigarette Forum

There's a lot of info in both of those areas, so a lot of reading, but if you have questions on anything specific there are always helpful people around to provide answers

Linked above, once you're past 5 posts, go check out and ask build questions in the modders forum. There are some REALLY talented mod-makers here!!

I make my own liquid - which is the biggest bang for your buck to vape cheap. But I actually LIKE my juice better than any commercial stuff I used to vape. Win-Win, at about $1.65 for 30 mls, lol.

I haven't build a mod. Haven't really got the tools, talent, or time...but I do appreciate some that I've seen here.

I have built a few boxes. I have three dual 18650 parallel mods, and one triple 18650 parallel. All Hammond boxes with MOSFETS. You could do the same thing with a wood or plastic box though... really anything that will fit all the components that you want. If you are building sub-ohm atomizers, a MOSFET should be used to prevent damage to the switch.

Here is a video of one of my builds:

Yes very smart build your own cut down on the cost ,and have the choice of meterials to use, dont have to search out info on name brand items
Or figure out what hardwhare to buy,
Or pay lots of money for low quality,
Plus u give your self a lifetime gaurantee on what ever you build
Now exatended warrentee to buy,and
Many endless benifits to building your own ! Its a simple mechanism anyways
Its not just about quiting smoking, its the over priced cost of smoking ,im mean come on dont we pay the price enough with our lungs and cancerous products. Ive got too many ideas, for building and too much materials laying around the house .and tools too work with and time to spend ,to many broken flashlights to convert .

Actually, it is cheaper to buy a mod (mech or regulated) than to build one. You can find mech mods for under $10 and regulated 30w mods for less than $25. But if building is a hobby, then cost does not matter, isn't it?
I've got a SMY Kung-Fu box. I think I paid $40 for it, IIRC. This is a chinese authentic dual parallel box. It doesn't have a voltmeter though. Nor a lock switch. I've also got a Cigreen 7 wood box. This thing looks pretty sweet. I think it was around the same price though. I've also got a Dimitri clone and a Cherry Bomber clone. Both are awesome. I don't remember the Dimitri price, probably around $40. And the Cherry Bomber I think was $55, but thats a full copper box... its awesome.

I don't think you will find a dual 18650 unregulated box with voltmeter and slide switches, like the one I built in the video, for super cheap yet. But you are right, I didn't build it to save money.... I just wanted to build something.

I thought my video was pretty step by step. And I even put a wiring diagram in the video description.

So true. Just finished one and the parts cost more than I can buy one for but the satisfaction of knowing I built it and its right make it worth while.

I posted this in the modding forum awhile back. It's an alternative to the typical Hammond box.

Thats a cool box. I kind of like seeing the magnets though. And there are even magnets in varying shades available on fatdaddyvapes.com. So you can complement your color scheme with them.

I like it when the magnets let me stick the box where ever I want.

Like on the metal hood over the stove.

You can build a pretty sweet unregulated dual battery box for like 20 bucks. Or for like 100 bucks you could build an awesome TC mod with the new DNA 200 chip. I think in most cases you can build a good quality mod for cheaper than you can buy it. You can find a mod cheaper than you can build but it wont be the quality of a home made piece.
