Built my first coil, ohm read was 1.8 but 2.3 once complete. Is that right?

i built my first coil with an approximate 1.7 ohm. I hit that. Once I wicked it, cotton, and added juice it changed to 2.3 ohms. Is that normal for the ohms to jump once you wick and add juice? I used a 5/64 drill but think I will use 3/32 next time. My vape gear limits me to about 1.4 ohms or slightly lower. Taste was good.

Kanthal A-1, after it's fired a few times, will compress, causing the screws to loosen... and from there, they tend to back out a bit more. Go in and "re-snug" the screws, and the resistance should drop back down.

The other issue can be a poor connection between atty and mod 510 positive pin... which may indicate a higher resistance, or none at all.
You don't mention the device... some brands, like Innokin are too low to begin with, while others - of the spring loaded variety - can take a "set" after awhile. If this is the case, try gently prying up the 510 pin... it's a temporary fix.
There are other, more permanent fixes, but no point in writing about something you may not need do.

It was the screws. They were loose, 2.3 to 1.9 once tightened. I will go lower on my next coil build. Thanks for the info.

What I like to do when I put on a New coil is to...

1) Mount the Coil to the Deck
2) Screw the Deck on my "Test APV" and Check the Ohms.
3) Pulse the Power Button a couple times until it is Happy Red. (Not Angry Orange!)
4) Check the Screws
5) Wick and Saturate
7) Test Fire a Few Times at Low Watts
8) Check Ohms Again
9) Assemble RBA/RTA
10) Check Ohms One Last Time
11) Vape

I think Step #3 is Very Important because it Cleans the Coil. And also gives me a Chance to make sure the Coils are Heating Evenly. Starting from the Center and then Moving Out. Then Step #4 verifies that nothing came lose when the Coil was Heated.

I'm by No Means a Coil "Expert". But I have done quite a bit of Experimenting to find what works Best for me and my e-Liquids.

The "Heat Flux", is to me, the Most Important factor in Any Build.

BTW - Don't be afraid to Try different Alloys of Resistance Wire. I just about gave up on Building coils when I started. And for a Long Time my RBA's just sat in a Drawer.

Then I tried Nichrome 80 instead of Kanthal. And a Whole New World opened up for me.

I will expand but with only the MVP 2.0 I am somewhat limited. I am looking in the forum now for a future buy but don't want to spend $100s of dollars, as some of these that go up in ability cost. I see no reason to Rush into Anything if you are Happy. And if e-Cigarettes are keeping you from Smoking.

One Nice thing about Resistance Wire is it is Very Inexpensive. I have bought many small spools from these guy so I Experiment with Different Builds.

And a $10 bag of Organic Cotton is probably enough Cotton to last me 2 Years.
