Built my first dual coil on the Kanger Subox RBA...

Let's just say it didn't turn out too well. I built my first basic coil with 26g Kanthal, 5 wraps around the little blue screwdriver that came with the kit). It came out to 0.8-0.9 ohms, wicked it with organic Japanese cotton from Kanger and it worked great, running it at 26 w. After that i decided to try a dual coil - same wire, using a coil jig with 2 mm rod. Basically followed this video exactly: (except he uses 28g wire). It came out to .5 ohms. I set the wattage at 30 and it was spitting juice. I figured the wattage was too low so I gradually upped it to 34w, same thing - spitting, now i noticed that the tank got super hot. Now I'm back using the basic single coil. I'm using 80-20 VG "Muffin Man" e-liquid (fantastic by the way). What did i do wrong with the dual coil? Should i be using 28g kanthal instead of 26? Could it be too little cotton in the wick? Too low wattage? Help me I'm a noob! lol
