When people bump a thread they're putting it back to the top so it doesn't get buried.
see #5
Urban Dictionary: bump
5. bump
In message board terms, to reply to a topic that has become inactive, thus "bumping" the thread to the top of the thread list.

Also bumping old threads or your own threads is usually frowned upon and/or against forum rules.

Imo it should only be done if your trying to ask an important question that you can't find an answer to and you've let the thread run atleast 24 hours. Or you see a thread full of great information you think others should read. But basically just post bump on the thread

The conventional practice here has been you are allowed to bump your own post, but no more than twice per 24 hour period. Some times it's necessary to do this if your post simply gets buried very quickly during high activity periods and it was hardly seen by anyone. It's not that you are being snubbed if you don't get a reply - certain times of the day are exceptionally busy.

It's better to bump your original post than to start multiple threads asking the same question. To bump, just "reply" to your own original post adding a little extra text or comment to fill the 10 character minimum.
