So I'm pretty new to mods and I have a few general questions that I was hoping I could get cleared up. I've attached pictures of my set up to help as well. I bought this from a buddy about a month back. So I'm wondering if anybody knows what type of rda this is? It has a center post and three screws which allows you to set up three coils if you would want. I currently only have two. What would happen of I added another coil to the bunch? Another question what is the type of wire I need to use to re build this baby? Can I use different types of wire?

Another question is for some reason it seems like it fires slower than when I first got It. Like I'll hold the button down and can suck in for like 8 seconds before I get a lot of smoke... Is there a way to get it to heat up faster? Or does that mean it's getting old...

Lastly I was looking into seiglie 150w box mod. Is that a good box mod? Would I be able to put this rda on that mod? And how do you know what watts to use it at ?

dont know what the atty is but it looks like a "manhatten" mod. you need to stay with kanthal wire, you need an ohm meter, you NEED to learn Ohms Law ! you should go to a local vape shop and have them teach you how to build a coil properly. going to 3 coils will reduce the ohms and increase the heat up time ( take even longer to heat up). do you have a good battery charger? Hi Turtle, don't know that RDA. Just passing on a couple thoughts after reading your post. Personally settled on single coil builds because results almost the same with significantly less hassle. Also switched to temp control device -- and, given a choice, would never go without; find quality and consistency of vape to be higher with nary a dry hit. Currently hitting old Magma clone with Vapor Flask clone. Coil is Ni 200, 28ga, 12 wraps, 3.5mm dia. Magma customized over time by blocking an air hole, removing air flow ring, and piercing needle mod to prevent dribbles. I'd buy another if I didn't already have two.

Also enjoying the Veritas. This had been set aside as vape was too hot with kanthal build -- but simply outstanding with TC and nickel build. Enjoy!

I've seen that RDA before, but can't remember what it's called. The top cap is a replacement, not the original. It's not the best build in the world on it, but it looks functional. The coils are pretty dirty, that could be why it's not hitting correctly. I am hesitant to give you advice on how to fix it, because it looks like it's built pretty close to the lower safe range for the type of mod. And that's assuming it has a good battery in it, not a cheap efest.

The coils were put on about two weeks ago from the shop in my town. They get black like that and I get them red hot and dip it under a faucet to clean them. Did that today and still fires slow. 1 coil heats a little faster than the other. What do you mean when you say the build is on the less safe side? These are my batteries

So I'll upload a picture of my batteries you might think they look bad but they seem to work fine.. So question about ohms. If I used thinner gaged wire would it fire up faster? What are the different wire options and what is a good one to use? Is it worth it to get a rebuild kit with different sized polls to rap the wire around and I feel like this wouldn't be to hard to rebuild by myself.. Also should the rda be very hard to unscrew?

1: "What would happen of I added another coil to the bunch?"
The ohms would drop.

2: " what is the type of wire I need to use"
kanthal a1.
try 28 gauge or 30 gauge
and use the steam engine coil calculator

3: " Can I use different types of wire?"
Nichrome is also used.

4: " Is there a way to get it to heat up faster?"
Maybe your batteries are just getting weaker; or your mod needs cleaning.

5: " I was looking into seiglie 150w box mod. Is that a good box mod?"
The sigelei 150w has a good reputation.
You should buy a brand new pair of batteries for it and keep them married.

6: " how do you know what watts to use it at ?"
Start low and move up slowly.

Batteries getting weaker, contacts including inside the switch getting dirty/corroded. When I went from an old mech with maintenance issues to an iStick 30, I had to turn down to about 3.2 volts to get the same vape (and had to hold down the button on the mech hard to get it to work even that good).

The new coils could be also a hair different. Thinner wire, higher total resistance could reduce the voltage losses in the various components, if indeed that's the problem.

I have some serious concerns here.

1: You dont know what gear you're using
2: You havent mentioned the resistance you're running
3: You dont seem to have a firm enough grasp of Ohms Law to be vaping on a mech with an RDA
4: You dont seem to know how old your batteries are

Im not trying to be rude, or insulting, I just am concerned for your safety.

If you do the research and inform yourself on Ohms Law and Battery safety and get a few new batteries from a reputable source, then you will know that to add another coil you will have to tear the whole build out and start from scratch. Make sure you have your Ohm meter handy for a build with triple coils. They can be tricky. I just built my first 6 post triple coil build last week. They are fun but challenging, especially when you want to be safe but still draw enough power to heat 3 coils. That ALOT of metal you're talking, and Mechs are limited by resistance.

Hey man no your not being rude at all I posted this for people to tell me what I'm doing wrong cause I'm a total nube.

    1. I have no idea what resistance is or how to figure that out so wanna help me with that?

    2. The red battery is a month old 3.7 v 3000 mah green one is 6 months old 3.7 v 2500 mah

    3. I honestly know nothing about ohms or anything so I need to figure that out but is it that dangerous with
    My set up right now?

I know I would have to rebuild it to
    Add a third coil

The good thing is that you came here for help! I would have to agree with @Mooch in recommending that you read ALL of @Baditude blogs. They cover everything from beginner stuff to Battery Safety and Ohms Law.

Essentially, to find how many Ohms are on your current build, you need to buy an Ohm meter. Slap the build on the Ohm meter and turn it on, it will tell you what your resistance is. Then you will know how many Amps your system wants to draw from your batteries. Im not liking that they are 3.7 volt batteries, but I dont know your resistance so Im more concerned with that.

To be perfectly honest, I would recommend that you not use your mod, those batteries or that atomizer until you KNOW what you're running. (Actually I wouldnt use those batteries period!) Im hoping you have another setup that you can use for the time being. There is alot of studying that MUST be done before using anything rebuildable.

They have an ohm reader at the shop in my town I can have him slap it on. What is the problem with my red battery though? I just bought it and It seems to work fine? And I have been using this mod for almost two months and have never had a problem. Just curious as to what you all think would go wrong with it?
