So I got a Kanger subtank and smoke X-pro BT50 and I was vaping away enjoying fantastic flavour expression (Althugh I need to get a better flavour now that I can taste it clearly). A huuuge upgrade from my old EMOW kit. When I managed to burn a coil... (After two days actually was a bit surprised I burned a coil that fast) Anyways I replaced the coil and same issue still tasting burned... I figure I must have fired it by accident and replace the coil again this time making sure the smok is completely off and give it an extra 15 minutes to saturate the wick... still disgusting... So finally I figure the juice must still be carrying the smell... the burn must have permeated the juice so I take out the atty drop it in some vodka and completely clean the tank and fill with fresh juice... not quite as good as before. I still think there is a tiny bit of burned flavour stuck in the atty... but not enough to be bad. And not enough to throw away a good atty over.

Is this normal? The subtank holds a lot of juice I don't wanna be throwing away that much at a time every time a coil burns (happened to have filled it about 45 mins before it burned so wasted quite a bit) And if this is normal why doesn't anyone say this? I read about a billion posts on this forum and have never seen mention of replacing the juice and cleaning the tank at the same time you replace a coil. I like to avoid waste (And the stuff isn't cheap up here definitely looking into DIY juice eventually)

Thanks for any insight,

With replacing the subtank OCC coils, it works best if you drip 3-4 drops of eliquid right into the inside of the coil and drip one drop onto the two side holes. When I clean my subtank, I take everything apart and soak it in very hot water for about 10 minutes and the dry everything completely and then reassemble. When you refill the tank, let it sit for 5-10 minutes as usual, or take a few primer puffs on the lowest air setting or the setting with no air holes exposed. With that device, you will have to play around with the wattage to find your sweet spot too, but I'm sure you know this. Too much wattage - too much heat being generated resulting in dry burnt hit. Start low and work your way up to avoid the burnt hits.

Thanks for the advice all - didn't need to resort to harsh cleaning methods

cleaning with water and letting it dry did the trick - by morning the burned flavour was gone (Yay!) but now my tank is leaking through the airholes... not a lot but enough to be annoying and sticky. I'm guessing the wick is somehow not holding the juice in place and it's dripping through the airhole as a result? This is a 70/30 PG/VG mix so I know it's a bit on the runny side but shouldn't be thin enough to drip right out...

This is a known issue that juice is leaking through the air holes. Trust me I had mines over 3weeks somedays it leak somedays it don't. My method to fix this is to blow it out the air hole and clean it. I still have not found a solution to fixing this. Thats why the Aspire is my daily tank now.

That's weird.. Never had one leaking issue with mine unless I have been flying. Have you tried tightening down the top screws more? There could be a vacuum issue making it leak.
