Burning Cartomizers <sigh>

Looks like I've done it twice today. I've gotten some new juice and was trying to load Cherry into the catomizers. I have two types.....the basic type and also the dual coil type - both from Modern Vabor and I'm using them on their LUX model. Both times, I got the burnt taste that is "oh so gross"! What am I doing wrong? I'm filling....let sit........fill more....let sit...... till I think they are full. Should these be filled and left to sit for several hours or overnight? Another question, once you get a burnt taste in a cartomizer, it is trash..correct? Or can they possibly be cleaned and re-used?

I've been vaping successfully for only one week and until today, all was well with the cartomizers I was using. I feel like an idiot. <hanging head> Ha!

I won't use any higher than 20% VG in stuffing cartos. The juice need to be able to move through the stuffing easily to avoid getting dry areas near the coil. I also now avoid any juice that leaves a lot of flavoring sediment - they clog the stuffing. I like my cartos to wick/work well as long as possible.

Also - what are the ohms of your cartos and what voltage are you using them on?

And BTW f you mix equal parts of your juice and a similar flavored PG juice (or I often use a good PG vanilla) then you will have a thinner juice of similar flavor.

I'm not familiar with the lux, but the website lists it as a 900mah 902, that is compatible with 510 cartos/attys. They appear to be the 1.5ohm dual coil smoktechs.

EDIT: Those cartos get really hot, and have to be kept very moist. You can probably get them to work for you, but your juice might be on thick side. I'm afraid I'm not familiar with it.

I'll try to answer this the best I can, but I know NOTHING about this stuff. The battery is listed as 900mAh and the cartos
are 2.0 Ohms.

Lots of people use 2.0 ohm cartos on Ego-alike models. That is not extremely low. Extremely low/hot would be 1.5 ohm. But 2.0's will be less forgiving than a standard resistance carto and will singe faster if dry in spots.

I don't know what you have access to but you might want to practice on some normal size standard resistance cartos? There's a bit of a learning curve with filling and sensing when juice needs to be added. And get a nice friendly PG juice flavor to thin thicker juices with. meanwhile, you could try thinning your juice with a some drops of distilled water.

Hey! Just did the same thing a few days ago! I have gotten Boges' to be ready quite quickly, but I think that was when I condom filled from the bottom first, and then topped off well- then maybe they were ready in an hour.

I would recommend taking short, light hits off of it in the beginning, and then being careful to keep it well topped off for a day or 2.

Also, not using a freshly charged battery.

There are levels of burnt- sometimes you can wash the burnt juice out and it's ok.

Dormouse - or anyone... Do any of you know where I can buy 100 PG Juice in Vanilla that is referred to here? Thanks!

You could try using unflavored (cheap) juice to break them in.

    Interesting, how does that help?

Also remember that the heating element is towards the bottom of the carto, whenever I top filled I usually got a burnt taste right off the bat. It seems even with the condoms off it must make an air pocket down there in the filler due to air not being able to escape.

Even after using the condom fill method, I notice it helps once in a while when topping off to drip a few drops into the bottom airhole to soak up by the coil.

I dont think theres much of a learning curve. Its pretty much common sense, if it taste like crap then refill!

Doesn't help the burning issue- he had later said about wasting juice. Unflavored is cheap.
