Hey everyone, after countless hours of fiddling with my aga-t+ over the last 2 or 3 days I finally got a coil setup that doesn't pop and dials in about 1.8ohms. I did have one quick question though, my wick when its firing taste like burnt doo doo, does that go away after a while of it being ran? Also is it unsafe to inhale that, I don't want to be inhaling something toxic but If i have to in order to get it tasting right I'll do whats necessary. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also I do not own a torch and had to run a bic over it quite a bit and did about 6 really good juice burns before putting the wick in.

well this taste probably wont go away. this is definately a short of some kind. it can be a hotspot on part of the coil, or just the wick in general. if a wick is set-up correctly you will not get a burnt taste at all. the wick when set up correctly is not at its full potential in the beginning, and does require a little bit of break in, but should not taste burnt. i would say that with no juice in the tank and you firing up the device(by pulsing) you will see one coil glowing much more then any of the others, this is the problem. you must work this hotspot out by proding the wires around this one while the coils are glowing. if this is not the case then your actual wick is not oxidized correctly and needs more. if you are not wanting to make an oxidized wick because of the recent possibilities of certain byproducts from the oxidation, then you need to follow the un oxidized method to the letter, or use a ceramic wick. good luck

Thanks I appreciate it, I am just going to pray for help at my vape shop and hope someone comes in that knows how to do it and I can pay them to lol. I have my tank full of juice and no coils light up red anymore and it burns so I guess it would be my wick. I guess I can take it out and keep burning the crap out of it some more.

so if you were to empty the tank, and then fire up the coils, you are saying everything fires up evenly?

I haven't tried it empty but I guess if thats one way to tell I will try that. Just a pain in the .... getting rid of all that juice to try it.

its the only way to check if coils are correct. you cannot really check for properly firing coils with the juice in the tank. this is usually done after coiling the wick and before adding juice. this is how to coil a wick..... oxidize wick/ coil the wick after annealing your wire/ wrap wick/ attach leads/ set voltage to a low setting(3.0v)/ pulse button on and off, then again, then again, each time increasing the lenght of hold on button, after a couple of times you will see the coils firing up, hold down button a little longer, and watch the coils light up,then increase voltage in even increment then repeat.. if any are glowing more then others, hot spot, short, no good. / take a toothpick or something to prod the wires above and below the red coil, if you persist at this you should be able to even everything up by proding the wires while they are actually glowing, but just give some time for things to rest, dont keep the button pressed for to long. after you get every wire glowing evenly, stop and wait....... wait ...... then try again check to see if still good if so wait.... wait.... check one more time, still good add juice, check resistance and vape... now if you cannot work out coils no matter what you do, it could be that either the coils are to loose, to tight, to much tension, or just a bad wick not done properly... it can be so many things. it takes time, lots of time and reading differnt posts and threads and videos... be patient but you will get it and when you do it will be all worth it.

Wow thank you for the great explanation I am going to empty out my tank and try that after i finish this movie :) I definitely do appreciate it. I will let you know how it works.

please do, if the wick is oxidized fairly well, you should be able to work it out. keep wick off of the bottom of tank.

Well i did what you said and realized that it made the whole process a whole lot easier (wish i knew before i wasted all of my kanthal except this last piece) but it came 2.1 ohms and is firing good. It actually taste like my juice. I'm sure its not 100% because its not quite all there but as my wick oxidizes some more and i burn through I hope it amazes me.

now that you may have a better understanding, now its just a matter of time before you get better at it. in the future you may want to try different configurations. different resistances, different wire gauges, amount of wraps etc. some like thinner wires & higher resistances, some like thicker wires and lower resistances. aslo different meshes, and different densities of the mesh wrap. this all depends on the actual pv you own as well. ceramic wicks are really awesome and dont require any oxidation, and they do not short, so this is something to try as well. there are so many ways to set these devices up, thats why i love them so.
