I purchased 901 attys for my kr8 batteries. It only really works well if you drip them. I tried the bfd mod - it is good but dripping is better. Already blew through 3 attys already. I have a feeling the kr8 cartos will only improve in a short amount of time seeing the trouble with some of them. 901 attys taste good, but cartos really are a different beast and give a totally different flavor.

I'm finding after vaping for a couple of months now that the KR and 808 cartos are drying out my throat. There is too much air associated with this set up and I hear you can close off one of the vent holes but I'm not into modifying things. I want something that works in total. (for me)

For now I've gone back to the 510 and waiting the arrival of the 510 cartos. One of the problems with 808 is you feel the burning and bad taste REAL quit because of all the air pushing the stuff through. Even after filling them right up I'm noticing the harsh taste and dry TH.

If the 510 cartos work better (and I hear they do) then it will be cartos on the run and 510 cart mod for home. Just kicked myself for not ordering an adapter for running these 808 batts with the Joye.

Yikes

I think there are two different things we're all talking about here, in all truth.

First, there is the actual burning of cartos by running them too hot, or for too long. This I've experienced from time to time, and I know how to (basically) avoid.

However, I've found lately that within different carto shipments from multiple vendors, a fair number of them taste bad, like a semi-burnt, 'chemical' - right out of the box. I've had this happen with blanks from about 5 different sources.

I think the two issues are different, and I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this. ;-)

Just my experience but I agree some of those blank carto's are flat out bad, right from the get go. I just toss em and eat the loss.

Yes, soon as I feel anything other than strong juice taste, I hit for the refill. I had some carts last 20-30 fills before getting that "won't come out of it taste" Time to chuck it.

Like you, I think some people just run them too dry or don't rinse them out enough. Like anything else, if you don't take care of the equipment, it's going to fail much sooner.

510 carto's coming right up. I'm almost sure there is not the excessive air you get from the 808's. KR carto's are nice but we'll see if the 510's are even better given all the aspects.

I actually switched AWAY from 510s due to a horrible run of burnt-tasting atomizers (documented in many threads -- just do a search on it). I don't want to be inhaling whatever was burning in those things. I've been happy since I switched to cartos. Obviously YMMV. I do miss my copper batt/atty though.

There was a problem with 510s, indeed, although it seems that batch isn't sold any more, or at least not much. It also seemed to have been limited to the USA and Canada, I haven't heard anything from around here. It was however a temporary problem.
KR8 cartos have had that problem wird burned filling from the beginning, and they still have it, as it seems nobody cares much about it. (Well, except those people who find out and stop buying them, of course, at least until the matter is resolved. )
So you exchanged a temporary problem for a permanent one. I don't know whether that's a good idea …

Same results with the new 510 cartos. I kept it topped off constantly with the condom method, didn't get any foul taste still producing great vapor. 5 days of use I decided to take it apart and see if it burned at all like the KD808 carts do and same results.

What do I need for this set up? I've got some KR batts and not sure if I want to use them for the 510 carto's or run an adapter for 901. Your the 3 piece guy and I'm leaning more towards exclusive myself, especially if these 510 carto's are not any different than the 808 carto's. From the initial reveiws however, they seem pretty good.

Send a PM if you like.

You don't need an adapter to run 901 attys on a kr8 batt. They are interchangeable. You do need an adapter to run 510 attys on kr8 batts.

That can happen, too, although I usualy get it when I drip when trying DIY juices and forget that those need the bottle slightly more often than carts ;)

It's not what's under discussion here, though. There was obviously a batch around that tasted at least that bad, very likely a lot worse, no matter how much juice they had. Crap out of the box.

I find that I get the burnt taste when I don't give enough time between hits. anyone else have a similar expierence? Also I just recently switched to strictly dripping instead of using carts and I think this has helped to not get that nasty taste as often. I don't know if the poly inside the carts gets to hot and gives off this taste or what:evil:
Wicking issues...

Dry atomizers, flooded atomizers, and wicking
Basically, you want to keep your atomizer happy with plenty of juice, but not too much as to flood it.

A good sign that it's flooded is that it gets a little harder to draw on and you get little or no vapor.
Flooding it, however, won't hurt it at all, and you can just blow out the extra juice.

Letting it get too dry, on the other hand, is not good for the atomizer supposedly.
But regardless of whether it is bad for the atomizer or not, you still don't want to do it.

You can tell it is too dry when it starts to taste like crap.
A nasty sort of burnt plastic type of taste.

One reason it might get too dry is if you burn through the juice faster than it can wick up more.
That is why people experiment with different kinds of filler materials to use in their cartridges.

If you take only a drag or two every now and then, you should be fine.
But if you use these like a cigarette, the wicking process will have trouble keeping up.
There are ways to deal with this, and people have different methods that work better for them.

And of course, when the cartridge is running low on juice, it needs topping off for this reason.

Would you mind telling me where you bought these 510's and what brand they are? And do you know the Ohm rating on them ?

Thanks!!
