well im glad you had a good experience but it really is proven that ego tanks do diminish on flavor as well vapor so no changing the fact there, i did not say doomed to bad taste i said lack in flavor, completely different. and another proven fact is that the more vg a liquid the less the atty will last without getting gunked up, another thing is that the regular tank atties, not sure about LR atties, they come from pretty much the same chinese dealer and all will work roughly the same give or take a few systems so that point is a little bit invalid (not opposed to being PROVEN wrong tho) my question to trbo....., is have you tried a 510 or a LR 510 on an ego?! its much better than an ego tank, r u serious?? i can get several of statements refuting than! if not i want ur tank system man u must have a one of a kind!
Yep, I have regular 510 atties and I have used them with the standard 510 bat and the 1000 mah Ego bat (both dripped and polyfilled carts). I MUCH prefer the tanks (I don't like dripping at all). I get a cleaner taste every single time. Maybe it's subjective - some of us prefer the cooler tank vapor to the warmer 510 vapor. I've never used any LR atties, either tank or 510, but I do know that I get better atties AND tanks from different suppliers.
I've had tank atties that were crap and some that seem to last forever, and in my experience, it was entirely dependent on where I got them from (maybe some places refurbish them and you're not getting a new atty?). I've had this tank system for a long time now. I've had at least 10 atties. I have 6 in rotation right now and with very little maintenance (I do a polident soak every few days, blow them out, do a little dry burn and they are like new) the only ones I have lost were either the crappy ones from the "bad" suppliers or ones that I have gone overboard with the dry burn and popped (2).
As far as bad or burning taste, the only things I can think of are primer and a dry wick. There is no filler in the atty to burn. A few things with this: When you pop the tank on, make sure it's pushed all the way down. Do a few short, hard pulls on it without the battery engaged, this will "prime" it. Don't use thick liquid (I've used 100% VG with no problems, but I'd imagine the thickness "could" cause a wicking issue). Try soaking the atty in polident denture tabs, rinse well, blow it out, let it dry for a little while and do some dry burns until you see an orange glow.
Honestly, I have never had issues with bad taste, low flavor or low vapor production with mine. The only time I have ever had issues with these things, there was a fixable reason for it. If it's drawing hard and vapor is diminished, the atty needs to be cleaned. If you're getting a nasty taste but still getting vapor, your wick is dry. Another thing to consider is how you're drawing on it. The tanks require a slower, gentler draw - total opposite from hitting an analog. My draws are about 7 seconds and I barely pull in, rather it's more like allowing the vapor to draw into your mouth slowly.
I know people hate the ego-ts (while others love them), I truly believe it's just how you use it and getting a feel for the device. Some people aren't able to get a feel for how to use it because they are used to or prefer something different. However, when you do get a feel for it, it's fantastic.
