I never had this problem until I started buying juice from a local smoke/vape shop but certain ones taste like burnt plastic. I took my eGo into the shop to ask and he said it's because my wick was fried. I bought a new tank, put brand new juice (but the same flavor) in the new tank and it still had this slight burnt plastic taste to it. Are their certain flavors that just taste burnt or is it possible that certain mixes can fry your wicks quickly?

You may want to back off voltage if your using a variable voltage device. If it's not a variable voltage or wattage device you may have low ohm coils.

I have a similar problem with the taste. I bought an ego clone with a iclear 16 clone(before i knew better) and i get more vapor and better flavor from my v2 cigalike. Is it that the juice from v2 is better? Is it that my clone is lower quality? Or maybe my juice is too thick to wick properly? I was under the impression that the juice with more VG would produce more vapor? I guess not if it doesn't wick to the coil it can't. Anybody with some suggestions would be great! Man i'm glad i started vaping but there is a ton of choices and so much info to take in

It is an eGo, eGo T or a fake off ebay...I'm not sure as there is no logo on the battery. The tank I had was non-rebuildable so I bought a rebuildable one this time. No variable voltage, I'm just starting and haven't bought anything good yet. I'm not sure about the PG/VG %, I should have asked. The juice is a light-colored one. I did rinse it out without letting it dry (just ran water into the top of the tank and smacked it on a paper towel a few times) when I added the juice the first time, I'm wondering if that might have contributed to the burnt taste. Having a non-rebuildable tank seems like a waste of money but that's what it came with so I just went with it.

There is a big learning curve and I have so much to learn, thank for all the suggestions! I have a lot more research to do.
Yesterday I had a chat with the guy at the local vape shop and after inspecting my tank he gave a few suggestions about things I was doing wrong. For one I was taking many short puffs at once sometimes and not letting it cool in between. I think it might partially be the flavor too, it seems to be more of a delicate flavor. I've bought a couple more of his blends with very few issues - I also think possibly my (fake?) eBay eGo batteries might be an issue. My bf seems to have gotten a lemon that burns coils easily.

It could be because the iClear16 is a top coil clearo, and it's not wicking up your juice very well. Try tilting it around so that your juice coats the wicks at the top, near the coil and see if that helps. I had that problem when I was using top coil clearos since I use a thicker juice. I now use Bottom Coil Clearos and don't have that issue much, if at all. Hope that helps!

Is your clearo a top coil (are the wicks at the top of the clearo, dipping down into the juice)? Sometimes with thicker juices, top coils don't always wick the juice up into the coil very well and you end up getting a dry hit - that burnt, nasty flavor. You could try tilting and rolling your clearo around so that the juice coats the wicks at the top and see if that helps too. I had a huge problem with that at first, and it was frustrating as all get out! Of course, I could also be wrong, but thought I'd mention it, just in case. :)

Yes, I'm not sure of the exact model but it is a standard non-rebuildable top-wicking plastic tank. I'm now using bottom-wicking tanks and it does seem to be working better. Occasionally I'll get a burnt tasting hit but these tanks do seem to work better.
Thanks for your help everyone!

Yay for bottom coils! I swear by those now. Occasionally I get a dry hit (I just blow gently into the drip tip and that seems to clear it right up), but much less than with top coils. I recently tried a newer top coil and the flavor compared to a bottom coil was weak and I was right back to dry hits again. Drove me nuts! Nothing like trying to get that burny taste out of your mouth!

A geniune Ego battery will have the ego brand marked on it. Not being Ego brand does not make it bad. Nearly everything that sells for vaping has a clone.

The new tank, did you prime it before you began vaping? An unprimed atomizer will give you a burned taste. Always give a new or cleaned atomizer a few primer puffs before you begin vaping. Primer puff - 5-6 short puffs with no power applied, then very short (1 sec) power on puffs until vapor is produced.

Water? The rinse that you gave the tank filled the wick with water. The juice has to displace the water, so several power on puffs may be required to vape out the water.

Bad juice? Some juices require steeping to reach their best flavor while some are good to go as soom as they are made. Ask the folks you bought it from what if any steeping is required for your particular juice.
