I just started ecigging, so im learning as I go. I've gotten a ton of support here already so I thank you for bearing with me while I ask another dumb question.

I'm using an iclear 16 vw/vv clearomizerand a vision spinner battery. I have only had it for like 3 days and I'm wondering why its tasting nasty already. According to the sales gal at the cig store, this should be 3 weeks before I need to replace the wicks. Could I be doing something wrong? She also suggested that I keep it pretty filled so the wicks don't dry out, and I've done that. So I'm perplexed why its already tasting burnt.

Also, when I probably want to try a different type of atomizer next time. What is a good one that is compatible with a spinner?

Also, what does vw/vv mean?

Hi

VV=Variable Voltage
VW=Variable Wattage

Your Spinner is VV - (so we can skip VW for now)

VV means you can twist the little dial on the bottom and adjust the voltage up or down, to change the power output, which can change the taste of your juice. That's the basic concept. I'm sure someone will come along and post links to charts and explain ohm's law. (Yawn. Trust me, it's not as complicated as it's going to sound.)

With any top-coil, string-wicked, type of clearo (of which I think the iClear is one), the wicks need to stay wet. You need to tip/twirl the clearo around periodically to keep the juice flowing. You didn't say what pg/vg ratio you are using, but vg is thicker than pg and the higher the vg ratio, the more chance of the wicks getting gunky.

A burnt taste can be due to too high a voltage, dry wicks, gunked up wicks, etc. Try tipping/twirling the carto and dialing down the voltage to see if that makes a difference. If not, cleaning might help or just replace the head. Personally, I don't mess with these little things too much - either they work or they go in the trash.

Anything with 510 theading (like a vivi nova) or eGo threading (like a Stardust-type clearo or Kanger EVOD) will fit on your Spinner:

Hi Sharon, in addition to Ocelot and Chimne, the current heads can be cleaned and dry burned to help remove any gunk. You can find a ton of 'how-to' clean clearomizer vids on youtube. I clean my T-2 heads about every other fill. The wicks tend to seperate the liquid over time and leave some really dark fluid behind.

Burnt taste can happen with almost any delivery system. Problems are always similar.
Low/no juice(dry wick)
Coils getting caked up
Output to high

If your Iclear came with more than one head, change it out. Lower your power setting. Start Low and work up easy to find the good, not burnt taste you like.

Rinse the original head in Hot Water and set aside to dry. Can be cleaned and reused several times.(dozens if maintained properly)

    Most 510/ego stuff is compatible. Try the higher OHMs- 2.5- 3.0, it's easier on your spinner and harder to burn your juice.

    You'll be going thru much of these things, so feel free to buy 2-5 at a time. Cartomisers are good also.

    2-3 batteries and an xtra charger also.

    And welcome to ECF, where there are no dumb questions:).

    Ok, I messed up. Curiousity got the better of me and I took my clearo apart to try and see if I could clean it out or something. So as I'm disassembling I realize that one of the wicks has a wire wrapped around it.... More discriptly, its COILed around it. The lightbulb goes off after I had the thing is pieces.... Is this wire one of the two coils in this duo-coil piece of apparatus? I think I pretty much just destroyed this thing.

    I did notice that the middles ofthe wicks were black, so I'm frying them somehow.

    So, I'm looking at replacement. Of clearos and cartos and attys and tanks, is one superior to the other?

    You didn't mess up at all! I have cut open lots of delivery devices to see how they work. I need to see things to really understand. It can be very helpful. I've come across devices that were not what they appeared to be (I can now instantly tell a CE2 tank carto from a regular single coil carto, even when the vendor claims it isn't one). This is off topic, sort of, but I enjoyed watching this man cut open a dual coil carto so I didn't have to:
