Hi

recently I been getting burnt taste from my vape. This usually happen when I turn my wattage up to 45w or higher (I like to vape around 55 watt). Most commonly I get the taste when I hold the power button for more than 2-3 second. Currently, I'm using the RBA with Clapton 26/32 GA and I made sure there's juice in the tank. This is the first time I'm using 26/32 GA wire i don't know if it's right one for my tank, if it isn't what gauge of wire should i be using? Or if there's any other suggestion and remedy that you can tell me about.

thank you

What's the resistance of the coil(s)? There is no "right gauge of wire" for a given device, but there are optimal resistance ranges, and in general some tanks/etc are better with certain builds than others. The TFV4 should be able to handle most anything you throw at it (within reason).

Also you mentioned that you like to vape around 55 watts -- but what kind of build do you like to vape at 55 watts? You can't hit different builds with the same wattage.

the resistance is 0.79 ohm and its a single coil build. I hope thats what you're referring to, sorry total noob

That is what I was referring to.

Hitting a .79ohm build with 45W yields about 6V. That's quite a lot of power to be supplied to a coil of that nature. I hit my .5 ohm coil with 55W and that yields quite a cloudy hit if I fire it for longer than a second or two. Your only real options are build lower resistances or simply decrease the wattage/voltage so that you don't get burnt hits.

I see, but the shop I bought it from said I can go up go from 60 to even 75 watt range

This depends entirely on the resistance of the coils you're using.

A 1.2 ohm coil is probably enjoyable in the 15W zone (depending on what kind of wire was used), but at something like 50W will absolutely yield to burnt, uncomfortable hits. There's just no way for the wicking to keep up with the temperatures that coil will be producing. The wick ends up dry, and the coil ends up burning the wick, and it tastes nasty and is no fun.

In the same sense, a .79 ohm coil might perform great at, say, 40W, but crank it up to 60W and you get burnt hits. Crank it down to 20W and it might take too long to actually heat up.

For every resistance/coil/etc. there's an optimal range of wattages. It's sorta up to you to figure out which end of that range works better for you. Do you want a cooler vape? Then go as low as you can while still providing enough power for the coil to heat up. Want a warmer vape? Go as high as you can without burning your wick.

Thank you so much for the answer it really help me out!

+1 to @nyiddle He's got you straightened out: you're putting too much power on that coil and you need to change it if you want that much power. Welcome to the board.[/QUOTE

Yes your mod might be able to go up to 75 watts, but to make use of it you have to use a coil that operates at the right temperature at that wattage.

Use steam engine coil calculator.
use the coil tool, and also check the mod range tab and look for your mod in the drop down list to find out the optimal ohm for your mod (the ohm to aim for that gives you the widest range of power)

kinda odd but from reading all the other posts.. everyone is getting a burned taste on the same atty with the same mod...
coincedent... dont know for sure but it does seem strange that everyone is reporting the same issue with the same set up...

kinda makes one think there may be an issue....
but than again I havent had an issue with my IPV4 and RSST dual... ;)
