Burnt taste

So I keep having issues with a burning taste with my clearomizers. It doesn't happen with all of them. Sometimes it's mild, sometimes it's more pronounced and really quite disgusting. It happens with both clearos I've tried, and it's happening right out of the box. The phoenix and the stardust are the two I'm using. From what I can tell, the resistance shouldn't be a problem at all. I'm using a 3.8v kGo and haven't used any cartomizers with a resistance under 2.0 ohms.

Any ideas?

coils are dirty. Dry burn after washing until the coils are red.
I am thinking soaking in white vinegar may also work. I'll let you know in a few days, after I get a stardust really filthy, then try it.
