For whatever it's worth, those 2mm thick magnets from ebay for five bucks will not fire when you set the Nemesis down. It takes some effort to get it to fire. They are very strong. They won't break either.

Maybe someone who measures voltage drop and all that can weigh in on whether or not having that pin backed out a few turns will affect the device. Supposedly magnets of some certain composition help with conductivity as well. I think these magnets are stainless steel IIRC.

I gotta admit, it is super nice not having to fiddle with the locking ring. I use my nemesis exlusively when stationary, relaxing or doing paperwork.

Then why does Fat Daddy say it will fix that?

From his website:

Comes with 2 pcs of industrial neodymium magnets. These are not your cheap fridge magnets. You can keep your mod standing up with these magnets!!!

His is not the only site that makes this claim, so suppliers are quite aware that's what we want, and they promise that, and do not deliver that I've seen.

I agree. If they say it will work for that purpose, then it should do that of course! :)

Thank you :)

It would seem I've been able to get my Nemesis to work as I wanted with the springs in between the magnets. At least I can stand it up on my desk without it firing or wobbling around.

Now if I could just get that stickiness and notchiness out of the button. I've had that with three bottom button mechs now, and I really don't know the solution. Lubricants don't seem to help at all. This is another thing the magnets were supposed to help with, according to some, but I've yet to find a solution for it.

Since you say both sets of magnet pairs are too weak (which is strange but whatever), why don't you try using both sets together.

Yeah, as I said earlier, the first set was so very weak I saw no use for them, and tossed them out. I might try getting another set and put in a third magnet.

I bought an Hcigar Nemesis from Vape Royalty, paid extra for the magnets, and they turned out to be far too weak. They would not even keep the switch from closing with no atty on the mech or battery in it. Not good enough at all. So I took the advice of some on these forums, and ordered a pair of magnets from Fat Daddy. They got here today. They are stronger than the first magnets, but still too weak.

With an RSST on it and an 18650 battery in it the mech fires standing up with those magnets in it. Meh.....

I wrote the supplier:

Hey Dennis,

I got the magnets I ordered from you today, which I ordered because the ones I got from Vape Royalty were far too weak. The ones I got from you today are also too weak, and will not keep my Hcigar Nemesis from firing when standing up with an RSST on it and a battery in it.

I'm disappointed.

Fat Daddy's web page says:

Not giving up on making that button work the way I wanted I put the original springs back in it, between the magnets. This worked very well. Now the button push is harder, and the mech stands there without wobbling around, and does not fire without the locking ring engaged. That's what I wanted it to do. I had hoped to be able to do that just with the magnets, as advertised, but I guess it worked out.

I used the same magnets (from Fat Daddy) in my HCigar Nemesis and they work like a champ. I even have the upgraded contacts which take the throw down to about 1mm. Use it w/ my Kraken and it will stand without firing. I usually lock it though. I'm to OCD to leave the room and let it just sit there unlocked.

Hmmm... upgraded contacts? Tell me more about those, I'm quite curious. Glad the magnets are working for you, they didn't for me.

Just a follow up. I had the 2 mm thick stainless magnets from the ebay seller. They are stout magnets but to make the switch work I have to leave the negative pin backed out a few turns. Surprisingly enough that has been a total non issue. I just check it when I change that battery.

I did order the upgraded negative and postive pin/screw set from fat daddy. I could tell little to no difference between the negative pin/screw in the upgrade kit and the one that came with my hcigar nemesis clone. Same length, same everything. The positive pin/screw has a much thicker head. Supposedly with the upgraded contact screw/pin set you can install your kick/beauty/nipple battery ring and shorten the factory throw from 2.4 mm to 1 mm. I could not appreciate the shortened throw since those thick magnets take up so much room in the switch itself that my switch throw is quite shallow anyway. I was able to add the beauty ring to one of my Nemesis clones. I guess that's neat in a way. I can at least tell the two identical hcigar Nemesis clones that I have apart quickly now.

I also ordered the upgraded rice pins from fat daddy. I got out my magnifying glass and really couldn't find a difference between the factory rice pins and the upgrade set. However, the pins from fatdaddy did smooth the throw of my switches out a bit. I suspect that has a lot to do with my factory ones taking some gouges from when I was still using them with the factory spring switch.

So to sum up I'm quite content with those 2mm thick magnets from the ebay seller. There is a link further up in the thread. I am running them in both my Nemesis clones. With those particular magnets I'm not convinced that the upraged contact pin/screw do anything other than allow the use of the kick/beauty/nipple top battery ring. The rice pins may be a nice upgrade to smooth out your switch or may not.

I have never used rice pins in my ehpro, what are they supposed to do, am I missing out on something? I'm using like 5 magnets...

I bet you are using a rice pin but aren't calling it "rice pin". If you have ever torn your switch apart, like to add magnets, that tiny brass dowel you slip in between the center post and the brass collar is called a rice pin. At least that's what they are called on the FD website. I had never heard of a rice pin either. I ordered a small pack of them because I have already found myself on hands and kness trying to find that tiny thing.

Sorry... Just saw this. Fat Daddy sells the upgraded contacts. The top pin has a thicker head so you can use the beauty ring without a kick. Also makes the bottom pin slightly thicker which reduces the throw to about 1mm. I don't use the top pin but I use the bottom pin because I like the shorter throw.
