yes you most likely can.
i do not believe sony has any button tops. in fact, the only high amp 18650 button tops that i am aware of are the AW 1600mahs.
if your batt is too short to make a connection, you can use magnets. i have tiny super strong magnets that i use when the need arises. they turn any flat top into a button top essentially. i do use rubber washers to guard against the magnet slipping and going down the side of the battery, but as i mentioned earlier, the magnets are super strong and do not slip (no voltage drop either). the
mod would have to take a HUGE tumble for it to jar the magnet. if it were to, i might be looking at a colossal failure without the rubber washer. so be aware of that.
another route some folks have reported is to solder a blob of solder on top of the flat top, creating a button. this is an experienced move and the poster did not recommend doing this if you are not well versed in soldering and
batteries in general. so i just figured i'd include that caveat.
