I know this is an old adage, but today what I saw sicken me. I was at a flea market, and they had several booths set up for "e-smoking". Myself being a vaper, I had to stop at all of them and chat, possibly buy and get a deal on some stuff. Out of the 5 or so booths I stopped at, only 2 had any idea of what model of ecig they were selling, and what their "e liquid" had in it. I asked all of them if they had any 510 attys, and if their juice was pg, vg or a mix. 3 of them looked at me in confusion, told me they did not know. All but two where also charging outrageous prices for a kit. I am not talking a little hike up either to make a profit, Im talking a kit you can find online for 40 bucks selling for 150. Out of the other two that sounded like they knew what they were talking about, one straight up lied to me about his supplier's eliquid, telling me that it was one of the only liquids approved by the FDA, and made in a FDA approved lab, which, I thought no e liquid was approved by the FDA. Hopefully someone can prove me wrong though, and there is an FDA approved liquid, because I really hate being lied to. This same guy also wanted 20 bucks for 10ml of liquid, I kindly listened to him spew forth lies from his mouth, (he was saying is was more expensive because of the FDA thing) told him thank you but no thank you, and walked away. (I felt bad for the other people that were buying stuff from him, but I wasn't going to ruin his business) Then I get to the final guy of the day. He had all kind of kits, a few different models as well as reasonable prices. I chatted with him for about 10 min or so, and decided to drop a few bucks his way, figured that 5 bucks for an atty and 5 bucks for 10 ml of nic juice was not that bad. However I left my ecig in the car, so I couldn't test the atty or the liquid. The guy seemed legit and assured me that it was high quality, and after a visual inspection of the atty, I went with it. I finally get back to the the car and pop in the new atty, blow it out and drop a few drops of my go to liquid I had in the car. I get a loud hiss and a small pop/gurgle sound when I took a puff, along with no vapor. I take another, still nothing. At this point I am worried that it might be a bad atty and that its going to fry my battery, I stopped messing with it, and screwed in my old atty. Then I went to try the juice I got. You know that taste when you had a few to many beers, and ash your analogs into your last bit of beer and forget, and then take a drink of your warm beer and ashed cig? Well take that swill, concentrate it then mix it into eliquid and vape and you have a good idea of what this stuff tasted like. I would of returned both items, but my kid was melting down and did not have time. So Anyways, long story short, be wary of people trying to sale you e cigs. Do your research. Ask questions. In fact, just listen to ECF and the people here. Every time I do not, I regret it.

You did well to not buy from those other four vendors. If the vendor doesn't know anything about their products, if they're grossly overpriced, or if they're outright lying to you then you definitely should steer clear. That you got burned by that fifth vendor, well live and learn. At least he seemed legit at the time, right? ;-)

And you're right, there is no such thing as "FDA approved" e-liquid. That guy is playing with fire making claims like that and using them as justification for inflating his prices is just disgusting. Not the first time I've heard of a vendor booth like that saying such things. Just more people trying to make a quick buck from uninformed consumers . . .

So help me, I would have went rationally ballistic and promise 'em that the local health and business departments would be contacted the first thing Monday AM! Then I would have went to the office and raised some intelligent hell there.

These azz hats do more to disappoint the possible vapers than any other influence out there. Arrrrrgh... mumble.gif

If you don't mind, which Flea Market were you at in Florida? I go to Daytona once in a while and they've got one vendor there that's selling a fat batt kit for around $60 with two 650mah manuals. I talked with him a while one day and he seems to be doing his best to be legit and has a website you can order from. He lets people sample his juices but all I had with me was an 808 and no blanks. Next time up I'm going to take a 510 and try a few. His juice prices weren't bad. Several more in there are high dollar and don't know what they're talking about.

I dont mind telling you, It was Oldsmar flea market. However I do not remember the name of the companies that I visited. There were a few e cig stores that appeared to either be closed for the day or out of business there.God knows if they were closed down what they did to upset someone. Good flea market over all though, if you know what you are looking for. Great hot sauce shop there lol.

Edit: on taste as we all know its subjective, so the juice I think taste like ashtray water my be good for some. I think the guy I did buy the atty from was honest as well and would of gave me my money back or a new one that worked. I have bad luck with stuff all the time. I would be willing to go back to him again but this time not leave my 510 in the car so I can sample the juice.

Horrible vendors and they don't even realize it. That's sad.

Actually, I think Johnson Creek is FDA approved. They went to great lengths to appease the FDA... complete with a lab that NASA would die for, ingredient labels, etc. TastyVapor is also building their business towards the same goal, to please the FDA's strict guideline standards. I don't know how close they are to finalizing, but at least they're going for it.
JC got expensive, I hope TV doesn't.
I haven't a clue who the flea guy was.
Can you take your ecig & ECF bc's with you next time you visit, and maybe casually educate those vendors while you retrieve more vital info from them?

I don't remember what brands. It's been a few months since I've been up there. If I can find his card I'll post it. I know it's somewhere around my desk, just don't know which pile it's under lol. Actually, I guess I shouldn't post it since it's not a forum supplier. I'll shoot you an pm with the site if you want.

what .. ?? from JC website .. It does not mean we are "FDA Approved." Johnson Creek Enterprises, LLC facilities and operations are FDA Registered.

It's best to get the facts straight ..

Sadly I do not remember the brands either. After a few questions and they couldn't answer me, I walked away. They all had some sort of stop smoking generic e cig sign. However, the guy who I felt was honest I have the name of his juice. If you would like to know I can tell you, but I dont want to promote something that I am still iffy on.

Well we all hate rip offs...that's for sure.:(
And perhaps another way to think about it...is that perhaps some of the
people who bought will make some sort of transittion to get off the analogs.
And perhaps
when they go online to get more info, products, juice,
they will find there way here....
and we all know what that means.:2cool:
Great help, great suggestions and a wealth of info for them to learn from.
Just my thoughts.

The FDA only disapproves, does not 'approve' products except for drugs. I feel good about buying JC juice, lab made, consistent, lot numbers, glass bottles, sealed packaging. Hope we see more of that soon. Thanks for the info on TV. I didn't know that. Will give them a try.

I was at the mall the other day and this one company wanted $250.00 for 2 e cigarettes that came with a wall charger. I told them that I could get a v2 e-cig super kit with 4 cigarettes, charger, and more for $160. He said the best he could was $160 SMH. I just declined and left. As far as e juice, I just see where everyone else is getting from and go to those places. I've found great flavors too.
