i keep hearing all this hype about BVC and what not. so i tried my hand and rebuilding an original protank head into a BVC. no micro coil since i cheat and use fasttech premade coils....

15mins and a cotton ball

success? idk - it works - no leaks - it just seems dissapointing. the flavor was muted but now seems to be shinig thru - but the vapor density is NO where where it used to be with a regular single coil.... its very weak.

any one else who REBUILT HEADS INTO BVC that have experiances to share?

I built a vertical coil for one of my protanks many moons ago and never got it to work efficiently. I just gave up on it and its been sitting since.

Yes - I've been rebuilding my protank heads into BVCs, but I figured the original (single coil) heads wouldn't be big enough. The new style dual coil heads with the sleeves work like a charm. My notes:

- The pre-made welded wires from FT are a god send. (I build mine to 1.3Ω)
- The sleeves with the 2 small holes don't seem to wick enough. The sleeves with the single hole/slit wick well.
- Keeping the airflow open is critical. Cotton from cotton balls tends to find its way into the coil. I use the Muji Japanese cotton squares. Cut them to size, then split the cut square in half. Put the "outsides" of the square towards the coil.
- Don't push the coil/cotton too far down in the head. Mine work best when the bottom of the cotton/coil is even with the wick openings in the head.
- I give the dual coils an edge for vapor production, the these built as BVCs definitely have better flavor.
- YMMV

I do build vertical in Kanger. I think there's not much difference except two things (my personal preference). I like tighter draw and they look cool. Supposedly they are very dependent on how you pack cotton around the coil. I prefer rather loose strand wrap around with ends sticking through the slots. All subjective. Some people swear by packing tight. I'm too lazy to go all scientific; if the coil is vapeable, it's good enough for me.

how do they compare to normal single wick heads in your oppinion?

its the first verical coil i have gotten to work without burning - impvooves airflow ALOT compared to regular coils, but it seems rather incossistent with its vape. one puff is mute, the next is flavor full. but overall "clouds" seem alot less dense compared to normal coils.... maybe i packed too much cotton?

@jafmf95 i have yet to see the cotton "find its way" into the coil. i can see allthe way down the tube and out the bottom!

well. after testing this rebuilt hed for over a day now, i think it might be a solution to "newbs"

every one i have refered to ecigs - puffs on it like a REAL cig and use uber amounts of lung power... so they end up flooding my tanks and drinking juice.
with this build, i have ben able to puff as HARD as i possible can - no dry hits and no flooding :D

Yes, no flooding;

I used to try verticals, but stopped; found it too much trouble
