Cakes

Well I was looking through my cake books today with Emily so she can pick out her birthday cake (she will be 6 Aug. 3rd) and she decided on a baby dragon, now I have to figure out the pans I need these Sports Ball Pan Set - Wilton but I think I might end up trying to find the right size bowl to do them in and fudge on the rounding for the dragons back and the egg shells (so no picture of the cake I'm going to make right now because I do not want to turn on the scanner)

Here is the one I did for her last year

And this is the one I did for my son last Nov. for his 7th b-day (decorated it while I was in a video chat room, the guys could not believe it...LOL)

So my kids will not take normal cakes now after last year (if you can call any of the cakes I ever made them normal both of their first b-day cake where cheese cake...LOL)

I just have normal baking pans and never the ones the recipes call for so I'm thinking if I can find the right metal bowl to bake the dragon cake in (maybe for less then a buck some where...lol) I can make the fondant so it looks rounded...need to figure out how big the bowl has to be though...LOL the directions call for a 3 cup one... guess I will have to see how much that is in any bowl I find (I have baked in bowls before for Emily's doll cakes...lol)

Ok I am going to go find something useful to do instead of rambling on here...LOL

Ok, you are hella talented Kelly. I really wish you lived closer to me because I'd hire you to make the cakes for all our occasions!

Thank you, it takes a lot of time but it is so fun making them, Hubby got me started with a cupcake decorating book... then last year I bought some cake decorating books... so no more normal b-day cakes for my kids (I don't bother making me one or hubby....lol)

See, now you could buy me all the books in the world and I still wouldn't be able to do that. That takes tons of talent and creativity that I seem to be lacking!

LOL, the creativity is in the books, you just do your own interpatation of the pictures... and do not expect it too look like the pictures...LMAO

Your cakes are awesome - I love making crazy cakes for my kids...and you're right, they never want "regular" cakes again...

Cool cake, looks halloweeny, I think it would of gone good with the brain jello...LOL

Yup give the kids something cool once or twice and ordanary does not work ever again...lol

I did do the brain jello (though she opted for "zombie brain" jello...green with gummy worms coming out of it instead of the stuff that is actually gray...)

I did all sorts of creepy stuff and had OLD scary movies for the kids to watch (you know, the old dracula and frankenstien...) That's when I found out that 10 year olds today are WAY too cool for that ...

LOL I like doing cream cheese and pinapple with lime jello in my brain mold... hehe

LOL at 10 they are too cool... when they hit collage all that creepy stuff is going to be so cool... the old scarry movies do have some creep factor over most of the newer movies, of course they are allso more corny... LOL

Nyxie- just make hubby an over the hill cake, bake in a bowl cover with frosting, make a cookie crumble path up it and get one of those over thi hill candles... did that for my hubby a couple years ago...LOL
