Hey guys and gals. So I just wanted to give a quick mention about the 308 which should be available when IKV reopens. I won't be doing a true video review, as I am somewhat camera shy (go ahead, it's pick on Loft Tuesday anyways lol) but I will give you a demonstration.
For instructions on how to use the device, see here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ikenvape/194410-calibre-series-how.html
I must say, this is a very solid device. I wouldn't call it an every day, take everywhere with you mod - it resembles a bullet. As much of a conversation piece it is, it's sure to get you both good and negative attention. It is also a collectible in my eyes. As stated on the included Limited Warranty card, "No further production of this calibre will ever be manufactured in the future." and with that being said, I don't even want to take it out of the house!
Design: For those who haven't seen this - the device looks like bullet. Included is a 801 drip tip that has been plated and looks like a round from, well, a 308. I don't know much about firearms or ammunition, but doing a Google search shows the similarities. It is also a bottom firing mod. Normally I stay away from these, having bad carpel tunnel in both wrists - but this is easy to fire and the cone helps secure it in hand. It is VERY comfortable to even my stubborn wrists!
Performance: The device performs beautifully. If you're a dripper, and want a piece of vaping history, then you'll be able to appreciate this to the fullest. Battery life is going to be "so-so" as you're limited to either an 18350 or one single RCR123a battery but when teamed up with an LR 801 atomizer - you get the goodness of the 801, but also a tighter draw from it using the cone. The cone, in my opinion, is a multipurpose and integral piece to the mod. It helps complete it aesthetically, and allows easier operation. That being said, it also helps tighten the draw a bit. The main reason I don't use 801 atomizers is due to how "airy" they are to me. Ask Isaac, I've even been known to add superglue to the breather hole of my Fusion cartos. I don't have to make any modifications to this device nor the atties that are intended for it. It is a vaping dream. The only recommendation I would make (have made to Switcher) for future devices is to include either a plastic or teflon bushing inside the switch for the switch to rub against. It will smooth the button activation process and also help protect the metal from scratches.
Summary: This device surely provides the user with a "hearty" vape. Think of it like this... you're outside in the freezing cold - your hands are numb, toes tingly, and all you want to do is sit by a fire under a blanket sipping hot cocoa or chowing down on some beef stew. That's how satisfying the vape is from the 308. You also have the personal satisfaction of knowing you're owning a controversial piece of vaping history that, once sold out, you will not be able to find again. Plus, the drip tip is damn cool too! And you aren't restricted to using the drip tip solely with this mod...
Side note: 1.8 ohm short 801 atty on an AW IMR 18350 w/ IkenVape PG Based RY4 was used for this test/review.
