Call in radio show Smoking and e-cigarettes

This is gong to be on our NPR station and noon today. I am supposed to be somewhere else at that time, but am going to try to rearrange my schedule. I also want to send an email this morning in case I can't.

The show is available on demand through a link at the top of the page, and has a twitter feed, Facebook page, and email for comments, as well as a toll free number.

I've got to go looking for links to email them now. Hopefully Jennifer Rooks will do some positive things rather than just the usual propaganda. We have the worst type of ANTZ here in Maine. They are also talking about the CDC when they advertise the program.

I stayed home until the show was over. It started out as I expected, with the "featured guests" trying to avoid the topic of e-cigs completely. The host actually brought the subject up, and of course they gave the stock ANTZ answers. They were basically doing a commercial for the useless Maine tobacco and Health toll free number.

I got on as the first caller. I was very calm, and described my experiences with e-cigs, and when I just listened to the podcast, I don't think I did too bad of a job, especially considering I didn't have anything written in front of me, it was all off the top of my head, and I was on for quite a long time.

The propaganda guests were pretty careful dancing around my call, but kept emphasizing how concerned they were that I was still using nicotine, and that this method only worked for me. Anyway, the next caller liked my call, and she was an ANTZ.

I wish I could have interrupted and told the truth every time they spouted propaganda, but with most of the listening audience consisting of the worst kind of ANTZ, I had to be careful and act respectful of their opinions. It really irked me when they jept telling everyone to stick with the "proven successful" patches.

At least I got a chance to give my opinion on a station that covers ME, NH, and parts of NB and NS Canada.

At the point I'm at now in the program they don't sound completely anti-vape but all 3 people seem misinformed. Maybe they will take a look at this forum since you told them about it.

The bought and paid for propaganda mercenaries will never come here to get informed...they don't want to be. The truth is not part of their agenda.

You sounded great Kathi! I wish they had let you stay on for the rest of the show! I had to stop listening after you were on. (can't hear a thing over the darn kids!) I agree they kept pushing for the stupid "accepted NRT's, while at the same time thanking you and saying how great it is that you were able to quit. I'll listen to it all again tomorrow at work where it's quiet.

I'll e-mail them too and suggest they contact CASAA or ACSH to get a scientific perspective on e-cigs.

Actually, most of them are very anti-vape, but the title of the program had e-cigs in it, and the host and I both brought the subject up first.

I listen to NPR because I don't have TV, and it's one of the few stations that has much of any news at all here. I am quite well known by the station manager for my frequent emails.

This station has a lot of programs that are unbelievably liberal, but like they say, keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.

I'll check that link out.

I sent them a bunch of links as well. Some of them are on the CASAA site, and one is to the thread of success stories here on the forum. I hope we can get them to air more shows on vaping and its benefits.

edit: I just read that link. It is very good. When I click on the categories over on the right hand side, there are a lot of other really good articles.
