That taste May go away. Most cartos I've used have a taste upon start-up that Does go away-usually within a half-tank.

I don't think filler "tastes", I think there's some residue leftover from the production of it or maybe washing it to clean.

It's probably a matter of taste bud sensitivity. I'm one of those annoying people that can taste and smell things no one else can. Probably why I dabble with gourmet cooking and am always fiddling with perfecting cocktails, growing my own vegetables and herbs, etc. I really do notice very slight nuances in flavor and aroma.

I've tried a number of ways to get e-juice to the coil in my first two months (almost) of vaping and I know that for me, the ideal flavor experience is the one that eliminates wicking material as much as possible. My best vape has been just dripping into an atomizer. But there's no way I am going to sit and drip three drops at a time into a metal tube. It's not time efficient and it's not aesthetically all that appealing.

Please someone, invent a pretty bottom feeder. I will market them for you and we'll be rich! ;o)

After all this, here is what I have learned:

1) "Fiddling with the Thingy" is by far the easiest, fastest, and most fool proof way to prime the carto. One minute and done. Bam!
2) Carto tanks are awesome because if you are an aesthetics freak (like me), it opens you up to a whole new world of pretty things: tanks, glass, colors, drip tips, designs, etc.
3) I can taste the carto filling, as many who have posted on this site have warned of. I agree that this is still not the perfect vape because it's not the most pure flavor. However, if you are vaping menthol like I am, it really doesn't matter as much - menthol is a strong and imperfect flavor to begin with - a little added carto material flavor isn't that bad.
4) Still searching for that ideal vape - one that tastes just like the juice and nothing else, gives the full flavor of the juice, and doesn't require constant dripping. I guess what I want is a bottom feeder/Reo, but my problem is, I hate the way they look. :(

If you're looking for the most pure taste of your juice you'll want a stainless steel dripper with a cotton(prefferably cheesecloth) wick. It's about the most pure taste you can get from a vape.

Not to mention it's cheaper to maintain. There's a learning curve involved with making your own coils though that requires alot of reading and math stuffs and an extra piece or two of hardware as an initial investment.

Just saw your last post about nto wanting to drip. You can also get a Squonk box, which you give a little squeeze and it spurts some juice up into the dripper for you.

The "Squonk box" you speak of is exactly what I want (see bottom feeder/Reo, etc), but as I mentioned, they are not nice to look at. Since aesthetics plays a large role in my vaping equipment choices, I'm stymied right now.

Was just browsing those this morning - good call. I could live with the metallic purple or the silver one (wish the green was more of a mint or aqua color), but I don't like the shape or the logo emblazoned across the shell. There must be a way to make one of these in an attractive "body."

Perfect. I replaced the first carto with a new one and used the "thingy" (airtight plastic bottle the tank comes in) to prime. I screwed and unscrewed the cap 12 times, and voila - perfectly primed and almost all the juice had gone into the brand new carto. Refilled the tank - screwed it on the battery, and all was sublime.

Thank you my friend, and thanks to everyone who helped.

I absolutely fell in love with this picture in a magazine. So much that Mr. Robin, dear adorably sweet man that he is, tracked down and found the book full of this lady's pictures of babies. Even with all the pictures, this one is still my favorite.

When I punch two holes in my Carto, I put my finger on the threaded end of the Carto, then put a drop on top of the hole and suck that drop in, do that 3 more times. Same thing with the opposite hole. Then put the Carto in the tank and fill with ejuice. I've never had a dry hit since doing that.

And I haven't used a Carto since discovering Clearomizers. :)

I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to make an ego type form factor with a bottle feeder, it would be slightly larger then an ego but smaller then an APV and you'd basically have all the battery stuff inside with the hose running from the bottle up the side next to the battery stuff through an insulated straw. Would be tricky but it could be done. If I had the materials and tools I'd give it a go cause I really hate the look of all the boxes as well =D

Love the color but your right not being able to see can be problematic
I wanted to get a tank from IBtanked
I was looking at some configurations and color styles
I had been concerned about it because on there site where you pick they don't show what it might look like on a tank but only on like a sheet
I had emailed them in regards to seeing what a tank may look like with some color style especially the bold royal blue swirl
Along with 3 other questions
The response was After 3 or 4 days do Google search we don't provide pic's
seemed kind of rude then I emailed back what about the other questions in regard to carto size and whatnot
but no response
And yet I might still order from them That's sick but I'm still on the fence I might not due to the customer service

Vwls, keep an eye out for the Vision Aurora BFT. It's a bottom feeding setup made for eGo threading - you should be able to get it on any mod you can fit it on(adapter may be necessary). Will give you that bottom feeding without having a box mod. Rumor is that GotVapes will be the first US supplier to carry it, though it is available across the pond already. Pretty economical, if memory serves - about $25, maybe less. Todd did a review on it - just search youtube and it's there somewhere.

IMO smoketech cartos suck and mine flooded the day I recieved my tank. What I do is plug the hole in teh carto with something then drip some liquid in, wait a little then do it again and repeat until it looks good. then I put it in the tank and fill it up and let it sit for like 30min to a hr or more. then I do some puffs on it while holding my finger on te bottom then let it sit more. long process but worked for me when I used cartos
