Calling all veterans

Hey,

So, after vaping for a while, I find myself happy with VV and even VW types of PV's. What I don't understand is, when I look under classifieds, it seems the most expensive, and most common thing I see are super fancy, nice looking PV's that are stationary voltage. They are always very pretty, but more often than not, just a manual vape, with rechargeable batteries that you can take out. In time, do you find that, that is what you fall back to, and just works the best. I guess I don't understand why they seem to be what a lot of the people spend the most money on? Any thoughts?

Oh, you mean THOSE veterans!
I've only been vaping 6 months, but from what I've seen, the classifieds are full of devices being sold so the person can get another one. Something about money on hand and such!

For me I'm happy with my VV's, and my mechanicals. I like the mechanicals because there isn't anything to fail, outside of battery related issues. Overall, just more reliable IMO.

I personally went with mechanicals so I can use my rebuildables with low ohm coils. A VV battery wont fire ohms below like 1.2 and my sweet spot is around 0.8-1.0 ohms.

Most of the mechanicals are one-offs (well, not mass produced in the same way as assembly line stuff) done by machinists and sold.

Depending on your preference they are
1) Apocalypse proof
2) Handmade works of art
3) Just a gimmick for people with no electronics skills or no mass-assembly line to cash in on vaping
4) tough as nails boomers waiting for someone to mess up and put the wrong battery in with a short

They are more expensive per unit cost. Don't have flashy screens and such, but can be maintained by the user often by replacing a screw or two. They follow battery voltage and are not regulated voltage.

This is what my impression is...

The high-end stationary voltage devices are probably mechanical.
And the people buying them are using rebuildable atomizers where they can create their own resistance.

By creating their own resistance, they are essentially able to vary the power output.
And that is the same thing as having a variable voltage/wattage device, albeit not quite as convenient.

In other words, high-end mechanical devices are for the extreme fringe of vaping enthusiasts who like to fiddle around.

Most people who like Mech mods are using RBA genny or silica stuff as well If you are a carto or clearo fan no since getting a mech mod. Unless you just think they are cool and would like one.

Not to mention, VV is relatively new in comparison to the e-cig market as a whole. Originally they too were high end one offs. Could be that some are clearing out their mech mod collection to make room for some newer generation VV devices. So many vapers, so many reasons.

Because they suck hence why the are being sold en masse in the classies ;-) oj they are usually extremely rare and hard to acquire pieces of art in the own right and pretty much indestructible don't massively see the point myself but there is something about the ggts with a good rba on top which screams beautiful

Whoa there... I have a couple of VV\VW pv's and some RBA's collecting dust because my preferred vaping setup is a 3.7 mechanical mod, LQ cartos in a pyrex tank.
I get more vapor than any other combination and it works EVERY TIME. No surprises. Nothing to fail. Just keep them clean, pop in a fresh battery, prime your tank/carto and you're good to go.
I liked the toys when I was new, but the bells and whistles got old really quickly.
Now I will take a good solid vape over gizmos any day.

Ahh..well that all makes a lot of sense. Really appreciate the responses. I really like the whole idea of rebuilding attys, to perform to their mechanical, and in the end, everything pretty much has "your name on it" cool... Still think I'm going to get a vamo.
