Hi Still. So I would advise you to go with an IMR battery in both situations. There are tons of battery/safety threads here at the ecf. This statement is my own personal opinion but in a mech mod you have a higher opportunity with an rba to draw load in excess of what a protected battery can support, add to that the fact that the cheap pcbs on the protected batteries are not that great of an insurance policy to begin with........ The IMR battery chemistry can support higher amperage outputs for longer durations so in my view they are better suited to use in both scenarios. They carry less tendency for catastrophic thermal runaway also(smoke, bang, fire). If you are going to begin with a mech mod, the vapesafe 2cent fuse ( The Vape Safe )would be a good addition...... to say something simple like the Smoketech Natural ( Smoktech Natural fully mechanical e-cigarette. ). Just my two pennies on you current question. Happy Vaping.

Ok, I currently have a Vamo with an Efest 18650 2000mah IMR battery. I was asking because i have on its way a Telescopic Mech Mod, and the battery sticky on the forum says to only use protected batteries in mods. Confused.

But from what your saying, all i need now is the fuse for use in the mech mod, and I can use the same Efest IMR battery that I have. Please correct me if i am wrong.

This doesnt include other variables for number of wraps or anything like that when considering reistance. From my understanding, more wraps = lower resistance due to the fact that there is more coil for electricity to flow through (correct me if im wrong).

Just to help you clarify a small amount. Your analogy of gauging and resistance is great when compared to roadways. The number of wraps per coil and overall resistance is out of kilter. The more wraps, the more wire and therefore more Ω. It is one contiguous circuit and therefore the longer it is (more wraps) the more resistance it will present. Less wraps=less resistance(more load).

You are currently using a safer chemistry battery. That is the going consensus as I see it. I believe that specific sticky is warning against using unprotected LithiumIon cells... like you sometimes see in say a flashlight, or reclaimed from a laptop battery pack...... totally yikes unsafe, don't ever do that type of thing...... like these 2 NEW ULTRAFIRE 10440 Li-ion RECHARGEABLE BATTERY 3.6v 600mAh unprotected blue - Jowans <don't ever put something like these in anything that you are considering putting near your face.......

But the batteries you have are recognized as a safer alternative, and are tested as such. So if you want to be extra safe, then yes all you really need is to get yourself a vape fuse to install between the battery and mod and you should be as safe as you are right now, if not safer. If something here didn't make sense I will try to point you in the right direction, just ask.

Nope, got it. You just put my mind at ease knowing i can use the same battery between my Mech Mod and my Vamo.
