Can someone explain to me what ohm's are, and why they are important? Let's say I were to get one of these, and the battery I am using is this one from happy vapers

Does the battery have anything to do with OHM? I am soooooo confused!!:unsure:

Serious response time.

Ohms are a measure of resistance, meaning the less resistance (Ohms) more power can get through (I'm not sure on the terms here, but hopefully I can get my point across)

A regular 510 atomizer is around 2.6 Ohms, and an LR 510 is 1.5 Ohms, which is why on an ego you get such a better hit from an LR atty.

Anything above 3.0 Ohms, I believe, is for high volt vaping.

Edit: I don't see why you couldn't use those clearomizers with your 510, but it's probably going to be twice as thick :p

Double edit: the less Ohms your atty uses, the quicker your battery life will drain, if used at the same voltage

This one is a little confusing at first, but no worries it will eventually make more sense.

Basically, Ohms are a measurement of physical resistance inside a circuit of some kind. If that sounds too confusing then a good rule to follow is "The lower the Ohm number, the stronger the throat hit".

Here is a wikipedia link to explain ohms a little more in-depth for you;

Ohm Wiki

Since you are dealing with fluxomizers I can say that 2.4-2.6 would be a strong throat hit while 2.6-2.8 would be a little less intense and 2.8-3.0 (which is the ones I have tried) would be good for any vaper who is starting out or just doesn't need a huge throat hit like I do.

3.0 and up are meant for higher voltage vaping so unless you have a mod then there is no need to go higher than that (other than perhaps personal choice).

Lastly, this ohm stuff can be misleading and confusing on different products, so the numbers I just gave you only really apply to fluxomizers and not standard atomizers or even other cartomizers.

:) Hope that helps.

Regular attys meter in at 2.2Ohms and not 2.6. Just sayin...

Ohms law ( there really was a Mr Ohm ). I=V over R. I = current V=volts R = resistance.

eg 5 volts supply 2.5 ohms resistance = 2 amps current draw from the power source. 5v 2oh = 2.5 amps. The lower the resistance the higher the current draw which will flatten your battery faster and burn out your atty faster as the higher the current draw, the more heat produced. LR attys should only be used with 3.7v batteries.

Woah, simmer there pothole. At any given voltage lowering the resistance will draw more energy from the battery and create more heat. So there is nothing wrong with his statement. Yes you can also increase voltage to get a similar effect, but John didn't say anything about voltage or that lowering resistance is the only way to create more heat.
