Hello everyone,

Since I started vaping in June 2009, I have made it my focus to try and spread the word about ecigs to the licensed trade, publicans and pub going smokers. In August 2009, I set up a 'virtual pub' called The Nut House, BUT when the MHRA got involved in trying to medicinalise ecigs, I had to give it up as it had a politically dodgy url.

I then started getting serious and set up the Campaign for vaping in Pubs (CAM-VIP) in May 2010. I collated around 150 pubs where vaping is encouraged, produced a leaflet to explain ecigs to publicans, ordered membership cards and so on.... Unfortunately I often feel like a 'lone voice in the wilderness' as people agree with the concept of promoting vaping to pubs and pub going smokers, BUT they generally do not get involved.

There is a great opportunity for CAM-VIP to represent the views of pub goers all over the UK in the new E-Cigarette Consumer Association (ECCA-UK) which is currently being formed. I would like to be involved and feel like I have a mandate from the vapers who like a pint or two. In order to do this with confidence, I would like as many of you as possible to sign up to our website.

The website is Campaign for Vaping in Pubs

All you have to do is register your interest in promoting vaping to the licensed trade by joining the website. Additional contributions and suggestions are welcomed, BUT are not a pre-requisite of signing up.

Thanks in advance.

Rusty

PS If I see any of you in real life,,,,the beer is on me

PPS Being American or a non-UK resident does not mean you cannot register and claim your beer :toast:

Hey,

Not sure if this is on your list but there is a bar in my hometown of Lymington, Hampshire (yeah, the snobby one!) called Longs which has a vending machine with disposable e-cigarettes in it for £6. And I know at least one of the bar staff regularly uses the machine so he can "smoke" inside when he's working.

Thought you might want to add it to your list. I don't go to the bar myself, and it has a slightly dodgy reputation, but I know they accept vapers there. Can do a whistlestop tour of the town with my 510, an XL battery and a carto if you want

Would also be willing to have a wander down Southampton High Street and test the bars there if you'd like. I go to Southampton reasonably often for work, so I can do that if you'd like! :2cool:

The UK is soon to have a consumer association called ECCA UK (E-Cigarette Consumer Association). It is my intention that CAM-VIP is represented on the ECCA committee and that the plight of the British pub is recognised. I hope that being a part of this new initiative will increase the profile of CAM-VIP and help us recruit more smokers, vapers and publicans to the cause.

With increased membership, we can approach breweries, large pub chains as well as local pubs with a view to allowing the use of e-cigs in their establishments. To my knowledge the limiting factor at the moment is that most of the licensed trade are not aware of the benefits of letting smokers use ecigs on their premises. We need to promote these to them.

CAM-VIP is NOT about ecig sales, it is ONLY about trying to resurrect the link between smokers and the pubs. People who vape in stead of smoking are the KEY people to persuade smokers and the licensed trade that this can be possible. Let us try to achieve this together.

Support our pubs, support vaping, support vaping in pubs.

Hello everyone,

If you care about our pubs and care about how best to encourage breweries, pub chains and licensees to actively embrace vaping smokers. Please step forward and talk to ECCA.

I am vice-chair of the ECCA steering committee so I have to remain reasonably neutral in future committee meetings until the AGM. We need someone to really push ECCA into getting behind the CAM-VIP initiative of increasing awareness of vaping to smokers. It would be so easy for the consumer association to forget about representing potential consumers in addition to those already using ecigs - CAM-VIP cannot let that happen.

Ecigs are a solution to the pub/smoker problem,,,,they replicate smoking in a legal way. The can be used indoors. We are not bothered about health claims and converting people to vaping, we just want the smokers back in the pubs.

If you believe this - please come forward and represent CAM-VIP as a co-opted member of the ECCA steering committee.

Many thanks
