Can e juice burn?

Hi all,
been lurking for a couple of months and vaping for 7 weeks -- no cigs. :) The other day, my mini nautilus coil burned out but I still had nearly a full tank, so I put the remainder in a clean tank with a new coil, let it wick, gave it some primer puff and then fired it.
It's my favorite ADV and it was DISGUSTING.
Do you think the bad coil changed the flavor? I haven't filled another tank with the same flavor yet, I hate wasting it.

Thanks in advance :)

For sure the e-liquid remaining in your clearomizer or tank can get gunk and coil debris deposited in it from a coil on its last legs.

You can see this yourself as your e-liquid will change color over a period of time when in your tank. This is mainly due to the coil gunk being dissolved by your e-liquid in the tank.

Only way to know for sure would be to break down and clean everything thoroughly and see if that fixes the issue. If you hate wasting e-liquid, drain it out while you clean your equipment. Then refill your clearo with what you drained out and it and see if the bad flavor has gone away.

Hi, TobiD, and welcome to ECF! It's much more fun to actively participate than to lurk :)
Sadly, some flavors are more prone to scorching than others -- chocolate, for example, scorches easily. As well, it is possible to have a "gunky" coil alter the flavor of your juice. Hasn't happened to me too often, but it has happened that I've had to drain a tank. If the juice tastes icky, you're best off to ditch it and start again.

Congrats on 7 weeks!

I find darker colors or ones such as chocolate, straight vanillas do it more than lighter flavored liquids. I have a mix I make call PunNilla that's hi-c and vanilla mix. 1 1/2 - 2 days it starts changing colors in the tank. Tastes fine for 3-4 days then it's coil change and clean tank time. My experience with lighter flavors, both in color and tast, tends to be they take longer to reach this situation. Mtn. dew for example takes 5-7 days for the coil to junk up the tank.

Just my 0.02 worth.

Come on folks! Let's think before you start recommending practices that go beyond the realm of safe practices. If you don't want to vape it, you definitely shouldn't be using it to clean your coils.

How do you feel about me cleaning my surgical instruments with it?

More than anything it depends on the color and thickness of your juice.

I tend to vape clear juices only at about a 50/50 mix. I've had coils that give me dry hits, and I've burned more than one wick, but with a clear juice it's rarely affected. However, I also love a good vanilla which tends to be quite dark and thick, and when that's burned you may as well throw the whole tank full in the trash. It's ruined.

This doesn't only apply to the occasional burning, in day to day use my coils will last weeks with clear juices but the same coil will only last a few days with dark, thick juice. My wife has been able to go nearly 2 months on a single coil using a clear, straight mentol but I've trashed a coil using the same tank, coils, and settings in 2 days using a chocolate before, and unlike the clear menthol which can be salvaged, once the chocolate is burned the entire tank is ruined.
