sorry for the rant but i STILL have no idea what is going on with my batteries...
ill start at the beginning. i ordered the 3 pack of 900 mah fireflys when they were available. out of the 3, 1 was considered to be DOA, it auto-fired when a carto was screwed in. it was replaced, i sent back the bad one and everything was good. i gave one to a friend along with a couple cartos, a single coil 1.5 ohm and 2.0 ohm carto and he has had no issues. so that leaves me with 2 left. a couple weeks ago i emailed LF that my batteries are no longer working, when i press the button the lights cycle twice. it is not the dead battery warning which only cycles the lights twice. this was when i was using 1.5 ohm DC cartos that read out to about 1.6 ohms. then it started happening with all my cartos. even now sometimes i cant use single coil 3.0 ohm cartos. i put it to the side and waited for a response. during this time i tested them on my second firefly and everything was working fine. today, i put a DC carto 1.5 ohm, which measured out to 1.66 ohms and i got the double light cycle. tried a different carto and it worked. so i tried a different DC, which is actually 1.61 ohms and it works? i still have no idea what is going on, why it wont fire or what the lights even mean.

i have sent several emails to CS, all of which have not addressed the problem. in fact, i have only received one response saying it was from overuse. i do not use these much at all, my daily is an evo. but to test if it is overuse i left it for 24 hours, still the same problem. sent a few more emails, post in this subforum on 03/26 and the only responses i get are to email again and again? honestly LF, WHAT IS GOING ON?!?!
i apologize in advance, i do know that this comes off pretty harsh, but i feel completely ignored. im not saying this is how LF treats everyone, this has just my experience with this problem.

I have already responded to your email. I'm not sure what else I can add, until I hear back from the engineers.

I would be interested though, to know if others are experiencing similar issues.

Also, I think it is fair to note that the batteries were purchased at a discount, with a DOA warranty only.

Actually, I have a Firefly bat that I hooked up to a DCT tank I also got from LF, and it seems to drain the batt much faster than I expected.

I did notice some issues, but mine are with charging that battery. Still trying to test it to see if it really is the batt or the charger. I don't know, I've tried to pull out the center post just a little bit, and that seems to help, but I still have to wiggle the battery around the charger to make the light go red and have it actually charge. If I don't get it making contact just right, the light simply goes green as if it was already fully charged, except it's not. I dunno, it's just strange.

I am working on vaping my second battery to the red stage and see if that one charges properly.

yes i do understand that they were a DOA warranty only, i was not asking for a replacement. i was asking for help and wanted to know what was wrong with them what the lights meant in the first place. i originally purchased them to use with DC and LR cartos. and they seem to be the cause. both batteries i have experience the same problem. the "reset" you told me about did seem to help a little, but when i use DC cartos i got the same thing shortly after. the discount for the batteries were for the finish, nothing being said about possibly being faulty. im not saying they are faulty, but mine definitely have some unknown problem going on.

I quit using DC cartos on my batteries (Riva, T-Rex, and one 3.7 box mod) 6 months ago. I've had them blow the (heavy duty) switch in the on the box mod, and not only did they affect the lifespan, they killed 2 of the ego type batteries.

Okay, so I am still having issues with that battery and/or charger. After I posted, it charged fine a couple times, but then today it was having issues again. I knew the battery was empty, if I used it the red ring came around it, but when I put it on the charger the light went green, as if it was fully charged.

As before, it took a fair amount of wiggling and messing with the center post to get it to charge at all. Unfortunately, my other battery was fully charged at the time, so I am still very confused as to what the problem is... the batt or the charger. When and if I submit any sort of warranty claim to LF, first I want to make sure I identify the faulty part with certainty. (don't want to ask for a batt replacement to find out it was the charger or vice versa)

I did notice something odd on that battery, btw. Since I got it, I always felt some roughness at the tip (where the flashlight LED is), and I just assumed it may have been some sort of issue with the machining, so I didn't think much about it. Today, when I was fiddling with it and trying to get it to charge, I noticed it was actually dented a little. Have no idea if that has any bearing on the issues I'm having or not.

hey.... some people have mentioned that the Firefly batteries drain quicker than expected with 1.5ohm DC cartos. I want to look into that a little more, and see if its something we can address. But I want to know, from those of you that feel this way, what are you comparing it to? A regulated EGO battery? Or an unregulated Riva battery?

thanks!

Hiryu,

I appreciate that. Give us a call, or send an email to support, and we'll help troubleshoot that for you. We should be able to come up with a solution pretty quickly.

I will soon, I think. I am still waiting to get both batteries drained so I can tests them side by side and see if they keep doing that. I am starting to suspect the battery more, however. The other day it was having intermittent problems firing with the atty that came with it, and then it stopped when I messed with the center post. Maybe there's some false contact in there or something. Anyway, I will be sure to send you guys a mail when I get both batts nice and empty.
