My first question here. New to e-cigs too. I recently bought a Bull Smoke City Slicker starter kit, and I was very pleased with it (loved Cherry Blast). I subsequently ordered a box (5) of 0mg menthol cartridges, which I was also very pleased with.

Does anyone know if there are cheaper cartridges (other manufacturers) that will fit my batteries? Or would it be cheaper to refill my own? Refilling looks fairly easy from videos I've seen on YouTube.

Any suggestions, advice, etc. would be appreciated.

Hi COPD and welcome!! I also am new, and Bull Smoke is one of my e-cigs I am using. Victory is one that will also fit, but I don't know if their cartomizers would be cheaper or not. Have you gotten the 50% off email from them?? That really helped me decide to place a large order with Bull smoke back in December.I also got another one for MLK day. Don't know if it's still good or not?

The batteries are KR808D-1 thread so you can get cartos from Halo, ciglight, v2, myvaporstore, and many other places, both prefilled and blank for you to fill with e juice. You can also get some esmart clearamizers and fill them with e juice. When I had an 808d-1 battery I really liked the clearamizers. Lasted longer than the cartos, easier to fill, and e-Smart clearomizers - package of 5 E-Smart Clearomizer Review | KR808D-1 Compatible | eCigEnergy.com - YouTube

wow.. thanks for this info!! Think I need to get some of these!

COPD, as Painter_ said above. He lead me to the esmart clearomizers and I really like them alot. I started out with Bull Smoke but just didn't like their flavors. I moved on to V2 whose flavors I do enjoy and I buy eliquids from American eLiquid Store who have flavors I like and V2 does not carry. Welcome to the Forum. You are going to find some great and amazing people here who will not hesitate to assist you.

Beck, I DID get the MLK day 50% off in email, but I didn't use it because they mixed up my last order. Last order was 1 box of 0mg menthol. Package came with 10 boxes of 18mg American Ranger that, according to the packing slip, was supposed to go to somebody in CA. It was shipped from PA. I don't know.... I get the feeling Bull Smoke is going out of business or something.

I appreciate everyone's input. Thanks so much :)

I like this idea Painter, but the last review said the mouthpiece got too hot. Would that be possible? I'm guessing you just fill the clearamizers with juice?

Please forgive my ignorance

The big bad world of refills. (cartomizers)

Best UK price these days is about $1.60 (equivalent). Most brands are $4 (shocking).

One brand, declaring itself "the best e-cig in the UK" charges $32 for 5. Is that $6.40 each? Incredible. (Bad).

They sell £40,000,000 worth, when everybody else sells £15,000,000 worth.

...........making it legitimate to call themselves the "best brand" in the UK... because they take more money....

it's a stupid world. :)

The clearamizers can get hot if you hotbox (take drag after drag after drag) them. The coil is near the mouthpiece so the vapor can get warm. I did not have an issue with them getting overly hot but I would take the 3 -4 drags I needed and put it away.

Cartomizers can get hot as well by doing the same thing, the difference is if you get a carto hot it burns and you have to toss it. The clearo just allow it to cool and you are good to go.

Yes, you take the mouthpiece off and drip in the juice. I gave my 808 stuff to my sister and she loves the clearamizers over the cartomizers. She tried refilling the cartos once and tossed them. She is using the clearomizers exclusively.

I drive an 18wheeler for a living, and I'm a chain smoker. But last December I suddenly and unexpectedly went into respiratory failure and had to be hospitalized (via ambulance - whole story is at http://mytruckalogue.blogspot.com/). I've got to quit, but it isn't going to be easy.

I need something that will gradually let me quit, so maybe 3-4 drags at a time would be a good thing?

I just can't spend a lot of money right now, so I want to be careful what I buy - make good investments, etc.

Another thing that is popular here with beginners is an ego threaded battery. A lot of people like to start with a Kanger Evod kit. They are only a little larger than a cigalike and come with clearomizers.

The ego type batteries are compatible with a lot of tanks and clearomizers, many, which are 510 threaded, also come with a ego-510 threaded adapter, so you can use those too. (This is probably all Greek to you, but you'll catch on quickly). You can also get ego batteries which are variable voltage, such as twists and spinners, which you will learn about after you have been a member longer.

I started out with setups like your current one. Every year, I bought a different brand, hoping that I would find something that would satisfy me. Finally, in December, I found an ego type kit, and it was so much better. Two of the best things about the egos are that the batteries last much longer than what you have, and you can see how much juice you have left. Also, there is a lot more juice in a clearomizer than a cartridge, so you aren't constantly filling/switching.

IMO, the Evod kit is probably the simplest thing to start with, with a lot of options when you want to buy extras for it.

Welcome COPD! You may get a lot of suggestions about upgrading, and if you want to this is a great place for advice. But if your like me and just want to vape without any tinkering, and stick with your 808's, there is a sub-forum here under Models Specifics just for the 808. You will get lots of great advice there on good brands and accessories.
I've tried a lot of different 808 batteries, cartos and clearomizers, but I always go back to Halo. Their G6 is the best performing 808 I have found, and matched with their mini tanks and some good juice you'll get a good vape. You can get a version of their mini tanks a little cheaper at other sites, but for batteries (at least when it comes to 808's) the G6 can't be beat in my opinion.
I will say I don't care for their juice. Many people love it but I think its a bit pricey, and now strictly get juice from Mount Baker Vapor. Insanely cheap, great service and huge variety.
Good luck!!
