Real newbie, appreciate all the help I can get. Here's my question, have been looking on web for how to mix etc, but specifically:

Bought eliquid 24mg from Volt and my tastes vary, sometimes 24mg is too strong. Can i buy some VG from the pharmacy and cut some of the 24mg eliquid to 12mg?

Thank you!!

Not only can you do it, I actually plan on it ... I normally vape 12mg/ml nic, but on my favorite juices I order 24mg/ml and request a maximum flavor boost, then I cut it half'n'half with pure VG. (You could also do the same thing with PG-based juice, or any ratio of PG/VG.) Not all juice vendors offer flavor boosts, but most do ...

Incidentally, I get all my pure VG and pure PG from Wizard Labs ... all pharmaceutical grade, and really low-priced. Mucho better than the VG available at hobby stores or drugstores.

I cut juices with VG regularly. I still have 24 mg and 18 mg juices I ordered a few months ago, whereas I now like to vape 12 mg and below. I cut with plain VG or with VG and sweet cream or caramel flavoring to get that creamy sweet taste I have found I like. The throat hit is reduced and the vape is much smoother. In many threads on ECF, folks will warn you to purchase USP grade VG, which is fit for consumption.

Soctt,
I have thought about doing that but have been afraid of ruining the flavor.
I mainly use freedomsmokeusa maxx blend and buy it in 120ml at 12 mg
I have noticed you can get extra flavor but how much extra is that.
do you think it would be enough to cut in half and still have a good strong flavor?

Can't vouch for other juices, but I have done this with Boba's Bounty, Flue-Cured, and Gamel—all AVE 100% VG juices—and the flavor of the 50-50 cut is still just fine; full-strength and yummy. That said, I urge you to experiment with a smaller sample before you commit a big bottle. For example, I have no experience with PG juices, or other PG/VG ratios—I vape only 100%VG—so I don't know if flavor-boosted PG-based juice will have the same tolerance for being diluted. Since PG is supposedly a better flavor carrier than VG, it should work, but I don't know ...

Do get the WL USP-grade pure VG and PG ... the shipping is fast, the packaging will blow you away, the price is right, and the purity assures that you'll be safe and taste-neutral.

I am a few min away from flavor apprentice and she has both pg and vg there.
I have a large bottle of vg still as I make my own juice as well.

I have some of the flavor concentrate from them that they use in the juice I like but I have tried to make it and they do something different.
Maybe I will take your advice and order a smaller bottle with extra flavor and cut it down.

Hi Scott, So much great information here! Thank you for your reply. I have only thus far ordered cartomizers and eliquid from Smokeless Image, they don't offer a max boost option. Can you recommend a good vendor for juices? Also I've gone to Wizard labs and see they offer nicotine. Do you order nic, vg and flavor separately then mix all together? Any other suggestions are much appreciated, it seems there is so much to learn here!

There are many great juice vendors out there, but I'm only really familiar with AVE and HHV, both of which will give you a flavor boost upon request. They don't really publicize it, but if you request it in the comments/instructions section of the order checkout, you'll get it. If you find a juice/vendor you'd like to try but aren't sure if they offer flavor boost, just use the Contact Us feature on their website and ask; if it's available, they'll tell you how to order it. I'm sure some of the other readers here will chime in with their favorite vendors ...

Regarding Wizard Labs ... they are primarily suppliers for vapers who want to mix their own juice using VG, PG, flavorings, and nicotine pre-mixed to your preferred strength. If you aren't ready to try DIY (Do It Yourself) juice mixing and are only interested in diluting some commercial store-bought juice with PG or VG, then just forget about the nicotine mixtures. I'm a DIYer, but before I ever started, I spent literally a MONTH reading everything I could find on how to do it safely and properly ... if you don't know what precautions to take, highly-concentrated nicotine is very dangerous stuff ... definitely not noobie territory!

That said, you may get the itch to try DIY, and if so, by all means scratch it! Just do your reading first ... I'd start with the DIY section of this very forum; read the stickies first ...

Can't one buy 0 mg. juice and mix it with the same 24 mg juice to reduce the nic level without changing flavor?

A 50%cut will be too much for most people unless you like a really weak eliquid.
I've been making my own eliquids for several years, tend to go high flavor, a cut of 25%on flavorings is quite noticeable.

Excellent point! Yes, you can, and that will work just fine ... it's not quite as economical as the cutting-with-VG method (pharmaceutical grade PG and VG are dirt cheap compared to pre-mixed juice), but that will definitely preserve the full flavor. Great suggestion!
