Haven't vaped in like 8 years? So most of everything is new to me now..
But I did a little reading and I figured out a few things I need in a vape, but really there is so much, it's kinda hard to know what is good and what is not for brands and styles, so I'm hoping I can get some help by experienced vapers here.

I'm looking to quit smoking and here's what I'm looking for in a vape setup.

MTL Mouth to Lung setup so I can draw in and then inhale like a cigarette, but I would like a decent cloud. Not looking for huge, just good and maybe be able to slightly adjust what gets produced with using only 50/50 juice blends.

RTA setup? I need a rebuildable coil tank system.
I need to keep my maintenance cost low, so I need to be able to rebuild new coils.

No leak tank is a must. Needs to lay down on side on table and keep in pocket.

1 battery or 2. Doesn't matter much.

Would like a smaller mouthpiece compared to the larger style so I can get a good MTL draw.

Not sure what my options are for tanks and box mods or pen style? I think I need some kind of box mod? So i can slightly fine tune watts, volts to my coils if it just doesn't feel right and needs minor adjustments? Also like the option showing how many seconds used or draws.

There's so many tanks out there, but it's hard to tell what is really good.
The battery side, I really have no idea what I would need... watts, ohms, voltage.. with all the combinations, I can figure out what I really need..

Not looking to just be easy simple. I want good quality and I can only buy once.. I can't really afford it as it is, but I need to stop smoking..
But I want to buy once and be good for long time and not wish I bought something else. I just don't have the money to play around like that..

So I hope I can get some help here or suggestions to get me looking in the right direction for tank and battery side system.

Quality brands?
Brands to pass on because there is better options?

Hello and welcome to ecf. On mods my #1 suggestion is a geek vape solo 100 mod. It takes 1 18650 battery and allows you to adjust to your taste and needs. Rta's top air flow is a guaranteed no leak tank. I really like the serphant elevate rta tank and the Augvape Intake rta tank. Go to vapecrawler.com and type in what you are looking for and they will list all the items that are available in the US and overseas. Its free.
Others will be along as they wake up to make other suggestions and to offer you more help. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

The Vaporesso Swag 2 is a good choice for a single 18650 mod.
It's very affordable, compact and has a solid chipset.

The folks above are a bit creative when it comes to tank suggestions though. They're either far from being leak proof (Berserker/Kayfun) or no MTL devices at all (Elevate/Intake).
But leak proof top air MTL devices are kind of a rarity. Only the OBS Engine MTL, Expromizer 4 and Ammit MTL come to mind.
The latter might be hard to get nowadays though.

Hello @Simplejack, I can recommend either the Ulton Tripod (Atmizoo Tripod clone). Decent materials, build deck, excellent flavour and uses glass (no tank cracking issues then).

O rings are garbage though but initially get you up and running, also the deck screws need replacing for finer/thinner wire as they don't trap the wire properly.

As for mods, there's many to choose from. What battery size is of interest to you though and how many would you wish to use?

Another vote for the Aegis Solo mod. It has IP67 water, shock and dust protection at a very reasonable cost. Power output is 5 - 100 watts and I think you will be vaping somewhere between 10 - 25 watts so you're well covered. You don't have to worry about volts or ohms, these mods are all variable wattage and that is all you need to set. You can also do temperature control if you like, but I suggest you start out using VW and explore from there later if you ever feel like it. There is also the Aegis Legend which takes two batteries for longer vape time between recharging or swapping out batts if that interests you.

As for an RTA, that is not as easy. I do not know of any tank that can never leak, but some are much more dependable than others. I vape at around 13 watts but I do restricted direct to lung hits. At work I carry my mod in my pocket all day. The only tank I've used that has never leaked on me at work is the DoggyStyle, but it has its setup quirks and because of that I don't want to recommend it to you. It is also not designed primarily for mouth to lung vaping. I'm sure you'll get a bunch more recommendations soon :)

Too many mods to mention - just go for a well known brand like Aspire, Innokin or even Eleaf or spend a bit of time reading reviews for newer brands..
The tank that has surprised me with it's total leak-proofness is; Authentic VXV Soulmate RTA Rebuildable Tank Atomizer (FastTech). Top fill, easy to build, good for MTL and CHEAP ! Airflow adjustable from carto-like up to Doggy. Not the best MTL available (airflow not perfectly smooth like a Doggy) but surprisingly well made and CHEAP. Did i mention CHEAP ?

@ppeeble, build deck on the soulmate looks okay. But getting the coil height right would be a bit hit and miss initially.

Coppervape Hussar Project X is another decent one to mention, here's the thread link.
Hussar Project X RTA Clone (by Coppervape)

Both the X and Tripod have no issues with coil placement, just wicking can take a while to perfect though.

Somewhere out there
The Solo is a good mod, one of my fav's. I'm also a MTL vaper, Kayfun 2019 is a great vape, but leak proof depends on wicking as do most rebuildable's. The Berserker is also good. My all time fav MTL is the Kayfun Lite Plus, a bit tough to find and you can find top a fill adapter on FT for it. Best of luck in your search :)

well, aegis solo is the most suitable mod for you on the long run, for several options, such as power, durable device and almost life-proof:cool:, also reaches 100W with a single cell...

so pair an aegis solo with a RTA mtl such as ammit rta mtl, beerseker and plenty more, i really admire the ammit RTa mtl for being 100% leakproof, easy to build and wick,

another MTL setup that could be interesting for you might be the aegis pod with RBA base!

PD: i won and run both recommendations, lol:headbang:

regards,

I am giving you links to all my recommendations below from Element Vape and the 18650 battery store. You may be able to find better prices from other vendors either here or in China, but these prices are reasonable and shipping is fast. Shipping from China is not fast, especially now with the Corona Virus wreaking havoc with the supply chain.

I agree with many others who recommend the Geek Vape Aegis Solo. I also love the Vaporesso Swag 2 and think that would be a good mod for you as well.

Vaporesso SWAG II 2 80W Box Mod

My two favorite new MTL Flavor RTAs that don't leak are the Steam Crave Glaz Mini and the Hellvape MD MTL RTA. Both are easy to build and wick and offer good liquid capacity at 4 mls. Both have great flavor, are reliable and easy in every way.

For batteries, I recommend the Samsung 25rs and I recommend you buy at least two of them from a dedicated battery vendor like IMR, RTD Vapor or the 18650 Battery store.

https://www.18650batterystore.com/1...MI7aqhs4T_5wIVzsDACh1miAWKEAQYASABEgKMUfD_BwE

I recommend you buy a battery charger as well.

https://www.18650batterystore.com/Charger-p/xtar-vc2.htm

You will also need a safe battery case or two.

One of the most important thing about successfully transitioning from smoking to vaping is to have a back up device and tank for your use. If you could possibly get two vapes it would really make life easier for you.

Good luck to you!!

Excellent list of all the bits and pieces you should have, but no list of battery-related accessories is complete without a few battery wraps:

I like to use dual battery mods at home and single battery mods on the go.

For a mod you take with you I recommend something with a screw-on battery cap that can withstand drops and water. The ones with battery latch tend to break if dropped. For single battery mods as said above the Geekvape Aegis Solo is good. As is Vandy Vape Jackaroo if you are okay with something heavy with good hand feel (bigger and heavier than a lot of dual battery mods actually). Jackaroo isn't really a "pants pocket" type of mod. Another good one though not waterproof is eLeaf iStick Pico. Selection of single battery mods isn't good in USA so I often order from China. You should have no problem finding Jackaroo or Solo in USA though.

For dual battery mods I buy whatever is on clearance. In the USA there are tons of dual battery 18650s on clearance all the time since the vendors seem to cater to the cloud crowd. I think Smok is a good value for dual battery actually. You can get some of the newer Smok mods for less than $20 shipped from USA. Look at A-Priv, D-Barrel and T-Storm models. Yeah they are ugly but who cares cause they sit on my desk. I use dual battery mods at home so don't care if they aren't as durable as an Aegis.

For authentic RTA at reasonable price look at Vandy Vape Berserker 1.5, Geekvape Ammit MTL, DigiFlavor Siren. Some of these might be kinda old so hard to find or discontinued. Some other brands that cater to MTL are Cthulhu, Vapefly, and Ambition Mods.

If you want high end or clone MTL RTA you can try Dvarw 22 mm, Doggystyle 2k16 (SXK), Kayfun Prime, Kayfun Lite 2019, By-Ka, Penodat, Flash-e-vapor, Noi, Patibulum, to name a few. MTL RTAs are not really popular in USA so often I order these from China.

Lot's of good advice so far. I can relate to your budget issues... I am a total bargain hunter so can find you some great deals.
Hard part is you really need two batteries and a charger (even for a single battery mod... charge one while using the other) I know this all sounds like a lot to get started (and ordering from china takes a very long time... it's fine later on to try some new things but not good option for you now) If you are going to avoid constantly buying "drop-in" coils rebuildable is great (not that hard after you try a few times) but no promise tanks won't leak. I'll post a few deals later... also a few super cheap back-up ideas (it sucks when you are quitting cigs and like vaping then have some issue and run back to cigs) Be patient.

Just for a backup tank (just in case you are still learning how to build) this is literally a steal (and they don't leak, but do take drop-in coils... but come with 2):
Aspire Nautilus X Tank
I don't usually do small pods but they are nice to carry around and I actually like this one (also super steal... they also have extra pods):
LINCIG HYPNOS ULTRA PORTABLE POD SYSTEM
These are just suggestions for extra backup stuff. I agree with other suggestions for your main setup.
Try to think about how much you spend on cigs right now... you will save a bunch in the end.
