I started with 12mg also but it just didn't seem to do it for me. I went to 18mg and it was to strong so I got both and mixed them half and half and it worked for me. Everyone is diff you just have to get started and try a few.

Exactly what I was going to suggest.

anther newbie chimes in...

VG.. try VG like someone else said. My original cartridges were all VG and wow.. what a difference with PG in the mix (got some today)
Years ago I worked at one of DOW's glycol plants so I could be hyper sensitive but I can't vape much at all with the couple of new juices I got today... I FEEL the difference - it is harsher - but they do taste good

Hi! This is my first post. I am about to embark on my 3rd attempt at vaping. After spending tons of time here (thanks everyone for all the help!) I realized I needed a decent set up & decent juice.
Last week I went to my only local vape shop & they set me up with an eGo-t. (OK for now, but I've promised myself a pink Twist & purple Spinner once I quit smoking!)
I have smoked 1 PAD of Virginia Slims Ultra Lights for 20+ years. They sold me 18 mg 80/20 juice & said that is what a PAD smoker needs.
I cannot vape the stuff - at all. My ultra Lights barely have a TH - this juice sends me into a coughing spasm every time I try it. I've tried vaping it all different ways. The only way it doesn't is if I vape so little that there is nothing to exhale. I had the same issue on my last attempt w/ GreenSmoke & Blu - couldn't tolerate the regular carts - had to use the lights & ultra lights.

So I understand the next step is to find "my" ejuice. I have ordered quite a few samples & small size bottles. Hopefully they will start rolling in tomorrow. I ordered them all @ 12 mg. I also got some VG & diluted my current juice - about 2/3 juice to 1/3 VFG & it makes it vape-able, but it taste nasty.

Now I'm wondering if 12 mg will be strong enough to replace smoking? Should I also be trying to find an 18 mg I can live with - maybe 100% VG? Thank you for any guidance & assistance you can offer. I'm not giving up this time!

Who did you buy this juice from, and what is the name of the juice? There may be lighter tasting juices and still have a good nic strength.

I gave up analogs and started vaping 5 days ago. I was pack a day smoker and the nic never affected me when smoking. When I started vaping, 18 was too much for me. Tried switching to VG and it helped but I still get headaches. I cut it down to 12 then to 6. Still headaches. Cut the 6 down to 2. So now I do 2 infrequently and 0 the rest of the time. I'm going through minor nic withdrawal for sure because I'm having insomnia and nausea in the morning, but it's manageable. I feel awesome otherwise. I never imagined quitting could be this easy. I can see myself vaping as a hobby for a while, so now I'm on a quest to find good juice. I've weaned myself off nic before I could even really get started vaping as a hobby lol. Anyway, I guess I'm trying to say everyone is different. You'll figure out pretty quickly what keeps you happy through trial and error.

Week one: 24mg nic (way to strong caused headaches)
Week two: 18mg nic (still too much for me, headaches)
Week three: 12mg nic (closer to my equilibrium, occasional headaches) tolerable though
Week four: Waiting on my 6 to arrive in the mail (hoping this will be perfect)
(All 100% vg)

This is to show that you must not give up, you will succeed if you want to and i'm sure a lot of other members can agree once you find your sweet spot - you will wonder why you didn't stick to vaping sooner!

I smoked camel menthol silvers (very light) so i can understand you not wanting a huge throat hit. Switching to 100% vg will make a "smooth" throat hit when vaped at your particular favorite voltage.

I hate waiting too lol. I've been vaping the most disgusting juice that I picked up from a brick & mortar store to get me started while I wait for better flavors to arrive in the mail. They have quite the selection of PG juices, but the only VG is Red Oak. I got Tennessee Cured because there was no menthol flavor in stock. Tastes like nasty gas station cappuccino. At least I know to avoid tobacco or coffee flavors in the future. LMAO.

the advantage of vaping lower nicotine levels is that you can save money. buy from places that offer high nicotine (~36mg) and extra flavoring (sometimes it's free, sometimes it's a buck or so) then dilute it yourself. say you get 36mg with max flavoring added, use 33% liquid, 60% vg, 7% distilled water or something like that. it'll cost you like 60% less than just buying 12mg directly from the supplier. vapedudes.com only offers up to 24mg but they have extra flavor at no cost and 40% off your first juice order (coupon code "vapedudes") so 40% off the juice then dilute it in half yourself and you're paying like 20% of their regular prices!! they also allow you to pick from five different pg/vg ratios, from 100% pg to 95% vg.

Just curious, how many actually went down to 0 nic after vaping?

I have vaped 0 nic juice I mix myself, and also unflavored 0 nic (90% vg 10% distilled water). I don't do it all the time only when I test new recipes or when I need to give a rest to my taste buds. If I had to, I could very easily make it my all time vape juice.

Quite possibly. I started at 16-18 with some at 12 mg. I know vape exclusively at 12 mg. Everybody reacts differently to nicotine concentration. Some get a buzz at 18 mg, others vape like a steam engine at 24 mg. The only way to truly know is to get some samples at different concentrations and see what works best for you. The right mg is the one that allows you to stick it to Big Tobacco!

I was smoking a pack a day of L&M Turkish Blue (lights), and I went into a local shop to get started vaping and the guy recommended 12 mg for me. But my smoking habits were more of a time killer I'm thinking, not because I need the nicotine, so I'm dropping my nicotine levels fast. Started a month ago, and I'm starting my 6 mg stuff now. :D But yeah, for ultra lights, I think I would do 10-12 mg and see where that goes.

This is what I just did. I've been vaping 12 or 18 depending on what I'm wanting at the moment (and mine is currently all PG, no VG, and water). I went through vape dudes and ordered a 10pk of 10mL bottles. Regularly is $58, with the code, I spent just under 40. Tossed in my usb cable for my new purple spinner (!) and I had enough reward points that I also got a 30mL bottle of Pumpkin Pie. Ordered everything in 24mg with a 50/50 mix. I like a good TH and was a pack a day smoker of Marlboro Reds, Lucky Strikes, and other harsh cigs. I'm going to dillute with extra VG or distilled water. going to play around with it. Good luck, OP, and go for that spinner! It's soooooooo pretty. :D

It is really great to know there is no one "best way" - I guess each person has to figure out their own best way. I really appreciate ECF & all of your help. I'm expecting my first juice order today & another tomorrow or Sat. I hope by the end of the weekend I'll at least have an idea of what types of flavors may do it for me. I was just reading on another thread about someone using unflavored VG with nic. I may even try that if I can't find a good flavor right away. Thanks again for taking the time to help!

I'm sure you are going to do fine. You just have to find what works Best for You.

Also, don't feel you are on some Time Schedule. You smoked for 20+ years. Spending a Month or Two finding Hardware and e-Liquids that work isn't a Big Deal.

Just keep plugging away and you will get there.

It's completely possible to quit analogs at 12mg.

As it's been said, you may end up vaping more and/or chain vaping, but hey...sometimes we all do in those moments of nicfits, that just need to be satisfied.

I was a 1.5 PAD of Kool Milds, then started off at 24mg. I eventually got nic buzz from chain vaping, then bought an array of juice ranging from 6 - 18mg to see what would work. I found that I was satisfied at 18 for a while, and currently I'm down to 12mg. I can vape at 6mg, but for the juice I'm vaping, 6 seems too airy, and lacking TH, so 12 is perfect. I'll still up it to 18mg for those rare occasions where 12 is out of stock, but I'll vape it a bit less. Either way, I've been off analogs for over 2 years, and my current setup is a 900 and 1000mAh Twist using a 2.5mL Smoktech carto tank with LR XL Boge cartos.

Don't fret. When it comes to vaping, it takes a bit of experimenting with what your comfortable setup is in regards to PV, juice, and technique. Sometimes people find it right away, others have to go through the process of trying small and simple to more advanced. I'm at that point where I'd like to become one of the "advanced PV users" with a mod and a rebuildable atty, but that's a different discussion.

Vape on and vape strong.

I got a crappy smoke shop kit with those little cartridge tips in strong and Xstrong nicotine because I was a 1.5 PAD smoker and I thought I needed it. I was wrong. I hacked my lungs out every time I tried to inhale at all. I didn't inhale for my first 4-5 days. When I got my first decent kit, I ordered 12mg and was very happy with it. I may have chain vaped a little more on 12 than someone on 18 or 24 would, but a higher nic level won't help if you can't tolerate vaping it.

Not sure about you guys but quitting smoking would require cold turkey.I've tried to cut down but it seems i always suffered worse nicotine withdrawals compared to cold turkey.Weird huh?I switched from a pack a day to my e cig with 0 nicotine mg. I guess its all about mental fortitude.I'm keeping the e cig just for the sake of the motion (hand to mouth)
