Can i sequence a 1.5v and 3.7v battery for 5.2v?

You guys worry too much. My first HV mod used a protected 14500 LiIon and a AA Eneloop NIMh in series with an LDO regulator.
It worked fine.

An "AA" size 14500 LiIon with protect circuit has less than 900 mah of usable power, and a cutoff when it's dead. It can't reverse, because at the cutoff it still has more voltage than a fully charged NiMh, and they're cheap on DX.
The Eneloop has closer to 1800 mah. It won't ever go dead before the LiIon does, so it won't reverse either.

Charge them both at the same time, in the proper chemistry chargers of course, and it's golden, works well. "AA" size 14500 LiIon with protect circuit is the key here.

It's a super easy mod to make in a 3-AA project box, tons of space for a switch, regulator, and atty connector with room to spare in the last AA spot.

You could take a half loaded revolver and fire it at your face, the fact you don't die after the first couple shots doesn't mean it's a good or safe idea.

LiIon chargers come from DX, same as the protected 14500 LiIon batteries.

Never said it was a good idea. I said it was an easy mod to make, and it won't blow up as some previous posters were saying.
Please note that is from experience. I built it, I used it, and I understand the electronics behind it.
If you disagree, then you must also disagree with the other 400 mods built here with TWO protected lithium ion batteries in series, since they would carry the identical risk (or lack thereof).

My current long time favorite is an adjustable voltage 18650 powered mod, mosfet switched, with a TI boost module, onboard USB charger and status LEDs.
That, by far, is the best idea. Highly recommended, although it also cost a helluva lot more than a 3-AA box.

I never said it WOULD blow up, I said there was a high probability, I also mentioned that 2 batts of the same chemistry with different charge levels should not be mixed for the same reason. I also said it may work, when I knew for a fact that it would, but there is a MUCH HIGHER potential for harm when mixing battery chemistry. Keep in mind there are people of all skill and experience levels here, those of us with little to some are here to ask advise of those of you with more. You're saying in one post that everyone else is being too worried and advising someone that it's safe to do, then your next is post saying you never said it was a good idea, just that it works...

I could tell someone how to build a bomb, but before I do I'm gunna say: "This is a BOMB, it COULD BLOW UP, I DO NOT recommend you ACTUALLY do this! Now here's what worked for me..."

Your other mod sounds really cool... I'm getting my TI order together to build myself something just like that...

If you mix a 3.7v battery and a 1.5v battery, the 3.7v battery will try to "charge" the 1.5v battery causing it to overcharge/fail/rupture/explode. A "pack" of batteries will try to equalize to balance the load. At least that's my understanding. Correct me if I'm wrong. Think of PCC's. The big, high mah battery charges the smaller mah batteries just by being connected.

A load is a load. battery A will see the atomizer and the battery B as a load, and battery B will see battery A and the atomizer as a load. Mixed chemistry isn't the problem, exceeding the load on either battery is a big problem. I wouldn't recommend it, but a protected 10440 and a nimh AAA would't be too bad so long as the load isn't too bad. Personally you're better off using a single 3.7v cell and an LR atty.

Even with a protected battery, never trust a bulge, even a little. The only lipo I've had explode was intentional. I had a china made 6s 5300mah 25c lipo capable of 135A+ that started to bulge after about 10 charged. I took it to a parking lot and shorted the leads. The explosion made me respect lipos a lot more :p before you consider using unprotected lipos, look up lipo explosion or fire on youtube, pretty entertaining and scary. I use them often for my aircraft and cars, but would never put one by my face if I could help it.
