I'm looking at doing my own e-juice to control what i put in it (the more I can!)

Do you think this website is a reliable for the ingredient quantity?

DIY Simple E-Liquid (E-Juice) Recipe Calculator

And can someone explain me the difference between:

<--Enter Your Nicotine e-liquid Nicotine Level. (mg = milligrams)
<--Enter The Nicotine Level You Want Your E-liquid to Have.

Right now i'm vaping 6mg vanilla e-juice and I would like to recreate this.

Thanks!

The first choice will be for the nicotine base you currently have.

The second choice is your target nicotine content for the juice you're making.

Talk to me like I'm 5 years old!;)

When you say the nicotine base and target nicotine, what is the difference? Right now my e-juice is 6mg nicotine.

Sorry for my stupidity! :(

OK. You've ordered your nicotine base, yes? The strength of that base will be what you use in <--Enter Your Nicotine E-liquid Nicotine Level. (mg = milligrams)

For example: If you purchased 100mg nicotine base you input 100 into <--Enter Your Nicotine E-liquid Nicotine Level. (mg = milligrams)

The next one is your target strength that you want to end up with. In your case, 6.

The calculator will do the rest and tell you how much of each ingredient you need to put into your mix in order to achieve the results you desire.

I use e-juice me up calculator so as to that calculator I can't say. As far as the difference between the two questions...

Nicotine E-liquid nicotine level = mg your actual nicotine solution is before mixing. i.e. 100mg nicotine in pg/vg.

Nicotine you want your e-juice to have = level of nicotine you want your final mix to have. i.e. your 6mg vanilla e-juice.

Hope this helps.

If I was you I would do a bit more research on the matter, this forum has a wealth of knowledge
In the DIY threads. and some pinned that will give you the information you need. So that you can and will have the
confidence in these formulas.
But I truly believe the stuff Ret 1 is telling you is accurate

I haven't order anything yet. Which base should we use?

I use 100mg in PG nicotine solution but you may want to choose a different ratio. It is a matter of preference. Some use a 48mg mix. The higher the mg content though the more caution should be used. Nicotine is very dangerous and caution should be used whenever mixing a dangerous solution. There are numerous threads discussing many techniques and tips throughout this forum. Please take the time to do your research before attempting to mix your own e-juice. The process is easy and very rewarding but there things you need to know before attempting to mixing your own tasty treat :). Hope this helps and good luck with your journey through DIY!

Is 100 mg nicotine level standard?

No. you can order base in many different strengths.

For a beginner, you may want to start with a small 60ml bottle of, say, 24mg per Milliliter (this means each ml will contain 24mg of nicotine). Three milliliters will contain (3x24) 72mg. Each 10 milliliters will contain 240 mg of nicotine (10x24). The entire 60ml bottle will contain (60x24mg) 1440 mg nicotine. So, a little 60ml bottle of 24mg/ml will make 240ml of eliquid if you are reducing strength to 6mg/ml. And that's a lot of eliquid!

You will need additional PG or VG for dilution (about 180ml). You might want to use VG/distilled water mix instead of PG or a customized mix of PG/VG or just PG. To generalize, if you add 1ml of 24mg/ml to 3mls of plain PG, you will have 4mls of a 6mg/ml solution. (1ml + 3ml = 4ml and 24mg + 0 = 24 /4ml = 6mg/ml). If you add flavorings, then it will put the concentration off by what you add. If it's just for yourself it's probably not enough you'll really notice for your first try. Let's say you add 1/2ml of flavoring to the 4mls. 24 / 4.5 = 5.34mg/ml. But if it's for someone else you will need more accurate calculations and measuring to get to an exact 6mg/ml. You will need measuring instruments, such as pipettes or syringes that measure up to 3, 5 and 10ml, and bottles to mix into and a pen and paper for notes, and I use a serving tray as a work base so if there are any spills they are contained.

Nicotine base can be stored in the freezer but do it in a way kids can't get to it (another reason to buy small bottles of base) and no kids or pets around when you are mixing. Learn to write down every step every time in case you get distracted - and it happens more often than not (the kids just ran thru the house while you were mixing - you're trying to watch them but now you've forgotten - did you add 3mls or 4 mls? ) Now you have an outline, it's still good advice to do a lot of additional reading in the DIY threads before you get started. There you'll read opinions of what flavoring company is considered the best for xyz flavoring. While another company makes a better abc flavoring. Hope this helps - have fun and stay safe !

Am I to assume that if you take the identical recipe for a 6mg nic but wanted to raise the recipe to a 24mg nic, the nicotine base needs to be higher?

Just trying to make sense of this, I do not understand why there are several base nicotine ratios/%. My mind just thinks to add more base to get a higher nic amount.

Thanks for your help! The problem now is that the shipping cost is so pricy in Canada that i don't know if i'll save that much! On an order of 26$ they charged me the same for shipping!

Valerie, have you tried asking in the Canada forum for some shops that may be local to you? here's the link: Canada Forum | E-Cigarette Forum
