my wire and coil building stuff takes up enough space... DiY is even worse... i'd be constantly trying this and that even worse with even more coils... bad enough i'm fascinated by the pretty colours the SS turns to on first burning in...

And here everybody thought it was about getting it as hot as it could go to make it sticky. Glad to see that's increasingly going by the wayside.

An even sticker problem: How to get that darned thing in there? Especially if that precision wind is a really tiny diameter…

An early experiment with high-temp rope synthetics.

Good luck all and HNY. :)

is that... saran wrap???

Yep. A sharp edged ruler is your friend. Wrap it, tuck it with the ruler edge and you'll find you can easily compress most wicks by almost 50%. Cut a bias into the saran tip to point it and slide it through. Use a small art cutter to open up and cut away the Saran on the through end and pull the saran back out from the trailing side. Still a bit of fiddly but beats repeated failure and frustration every time.

:D Have a happy.

p.s. Sorry for the correction. It's been a while since I last wicked 1/16". Nextel 2mm slides right into 1.778mm which fits the 1.8mm of most common clearo assemblies.

You Can... But since the 2 Materials have Differing Wicking properties, you need to Offset their differences by using 2 Different e-Liquids when you do.

I've never tried that before, sounds yummy!

It's a good idea to try but don't get carried away or the next thing you know you are investing in one of those Dairy Queen soft serve dispensers for your vape juice trying to get that perfect 50/50 mix with the twirl at the top and suddenly vaping isn't economical anymore.

Aby one that can rebuild pro Tank coils has my respect.

I built Protank coils before moving go subtank Nano.

Those are too rasyy to short out when surrounded by things to short against.

Building the OCC heads was a piece of cake compared to Protank coil heads.

You're right about the lead susceptibility on the common clearomizer assembly to short and for various reasons. Not the least of which was the tendency of leads set at particular angles to bend and either graze the housing or remain too close when the insulator and pin were pushed in.

Although the mass-produced solution turned out to be non-resistance wire for the industry, there is a wind and build process that substantially solved this for the typical user, for the record. At least for the Protank series…

Protank MicroCoil Discussion!!

With this process you could even build something like this without the ever-present likelihood of shorting, even at higher power (since more than 15W)…

So in reality the Protank's limits are mostly defined by its limited airflow (510 pin). Certainly not flavor or vapor production. And although the OCC is easier to build like so many bigger vertical clearo assemblies it has its own issues.

Good luck all and HNY. :)

Pro Tank coils are like building an item in a pack of cigarettes.

Building on a OCC head was like building tge same thing in your living room.

Building on a Kayfun is like building the same thing in a warehouse.

In a pro tank coil you literally have 2 mm to spare on top or bottom and either side without shorting.

As i said a person who builds Pro Tank coils has my respect because Ive done it snd know what a PITA it is to build that tiny with those tolerances.

It's almost not even worth it to try rewicking those little Kanger Pro Tank coils.

Since these coil heads have silica wick in them, they can be dry burned over and over. And when these coil heads do need to be replaced, a 5-pack only costs $ 5.15 from Fasttech.

It's not so much the money savings as it is a personal challenge for me

We all have our Mountains to Climb. And there is Always something in being able to say "I Did It".

Mine is to One Day throw away All those Boxes that my Mods and Atomizers came in.

I am wondering if I can use cotton for the middle wick and Ekowool for the flavor wick? This is in reference to the protank mini 3...but am also curious for other uses.

Interesting question. I never used a top wick on a PT. When I started rebuilding I read here somewhere that you don't need one if you make your own coil and use cotton. Let us know if it works better than with a single wick. Or maybe you already have somewhere in this thread.
