They're specially treated analogs that will go out pretty quickly if you don't keep drawing on them. I've talked to a few people who have tried them and they find them very annoying because they go out so quickly and you have to keep re-lighting them.

Personally I think it's a plot by the lighter fluid/butane makers to sell more product.

The new FSC cigs are terrible, its what drove me to the ecig. I can, as well as many others, tell the difference between the new FSC and the old style. They are no longer enjoyable and I think its BS that the govt. can jump in and regulate peoples habits. So a few people die each year from smoking in bed - this is only natural selection, I should not have to suffer because some people are too stupid to follow simple procedures.

FSC is also the reason I am here. From the moment I smoked a FSC cigarette I was sick, chest pains, a stabbing pain in my rib and ungodly sinus congestion. The day I stopped smoking them, it all went away. Google FSC cigarettes and read about how many people are getting sick from these things. I got lucky. The cig shop I frequent found a bunch of non FSC menthols and put them aside for me. They sell me packs everyday. But they are running out, I think I got 3 cartons left.

Its really unfair of the gov't to do this. They completely changed the smoking experience. We are adults. Where are fire safe matches, where are fire safe burners and ovens? Where are fire safe lighters? (not child proof, but fire safe). There is no need whatsoever to make cigs firesafe, especially with so many people getting sick from them. I was sick for over a month straight, and it only took one whole day on normal cigs to make me well again. FSC cigs are horrible, and there are only 2 states left (I believe its Virginia and North Carolina) where you can legally obtain non FSC cigarettes at this point. Terrible Terrible Terrible.

Man I can't wait for my e-cigs to arrive in a couple days.

Here's a nifty little quote:

"The Harvard report on fire-safe cigarettes shows in complex tables that levels of carbon monoxide -- related to heart disease -- and naphthalene -- linked to cancer -- are boosted the most when manufacturers use special, banded paper that slows burning, which is helpful when a cigarette is left unattended.

Carbon monoxide is boosted by 11.4 percent and naphthalene by 13.9 percent. Other carcinogens, such as fluorine, are increased by about 6 percent."

So you're saying your (state?) government only allows FSC's?! Wow! Where do you live, Badaxe?

But they did it for your heath.
(Yeah right, they did it because they know we're not going to quit so they're going to make us quit by killing us faster.)

EDIT - removed my last statement as it was inaccurate.

I live in PA. They have been selling FSC cigs since oct/nov but the law went into effect on 1/9. The cig shop I go to still has 3 more cartons set aside for me. Hopefully I won't need them. My e-cigs are due to arrive tomorrow or Thursday.

According to the link below, 22 states have implemented the FSC law, and 15 more have passed the law, with implementation dates set. The rest are set to follow.

So the FDA test e-cigs and says they contain cancer causing stuff. They spread false half tuths to the general public. The new firesafe cigarettes are ok'd by the FDA but are not tested.
This an excerpt from the WIKI:
Fire safe cigarettes are produced by adding bands of EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) to the cigarette paper during manufacturing, in order to decrease burn rate at the bands. The combustion toxicity of EVA has not been studied to any extent, but combustion byproducts are known to include carbon monoxide and "unknown hydrocarbons".

my first post lol .... ya im in michigan, and they started the menthol cigs prolly 4-5 months ago. i smoke marlboro mediums and they have just recently been coming in FSC in that brand and flavor. I can taste the diff a little, but it reallllly bugs me to have to light it two times, and i notice the paper burns on only one side alot ... wasting the cig. i would like to quit analog smokes, am in the process of learning more about e-cigs and mostly what company/kind to get.

LOL yeah and WA is one of them. I noticed right away when they changed my Camel lights to FSC. I couldn't stand them. Luckily, that's about the same time I found out about e-cigs. So, the government wants to ban e-cigs and force us to smoke the even more dangerous FSCs. And we're supposed to trust these people with healthcare?? I lived in a communist country and I never thought I would see these things happening in the USA. Wake up, people.

I hate these....sounded to me like a way to regulate how fast you have to smoke a cigarette now....so it won't go out and then burn the crap out of you when the paper goes flying when you relight it. I never in 20 plus years of smoking had burned myself more than with the new firesafe cigs. But hopefully soon that will be a thing of the past.
