Having a clue would be as opposed to me, who does not. Anyway, I had a m401 battery that suddenly stopped working, and it "seemed" that it wouldn't draw. So in the manner of all people who are ignorant enough to be dangerous, I decided to fiddle around with it. Anyway, I stuck a paperclip down the air hole, mainly incase something was clogging it, and it went scorching hot, and now the led has been flashing for about 5 minutes. So, what, is it about to blow up? And, ya, I get that I am, in this instance, an idiot......

How SLOW & FALLIBLE of me to reply this late! I'll be sure to look at my direct messages from now on. With all that I use my pc for, I am very new at using a forum of this kind. I used advanced search to find this thread of yours.

You have done one of the two folowing things Deliza...

You have caused the air switch to get stuck closed...OR (more than likely, since it did get scorching hot) you have shorted the poles (+ and - together). In either case, the battery would be toast. If you stuck the switch closed, you would cause the internal cells to discharge to the point of no return. If you shorted them, there is very likely a safety filament (much like a fuse) that has burned open...AFTER severe cell damage has already been done. In either case, your battery is indeed toast. Next time this happens to you, just blow out the air switch orifice with 2 or 3 short burts of compressed air, using only moderate pressure (30 psi MAX).

I'd love to have the threaded connector to make a homebrewed external power connector for some mad scientist bench testing activities!

No worries Doc, I am rather accustomed to being ignored these days :)........... Yea, you are kinda way too late for the connector, considering I ripped it off with a pair of pliers thereby pretty much destroying it. Why, do you need one? I seem to be killing batteries at an alarming rate.

The whole experience was somewhat educational though, in that I got to see how its put together (you know, inquiring minds and all that) but seeing it doesn't mean much I guess, as evidenced by my utter lack of understanding of most of what you wrote (aside from the part about the battery being toast).

Well, one causes of the battery failing in the first place could be some e-juice leaking out of the atomizer and into the battery. I've had it happen a couple of times already. If it starts to happen again, unscrew the atty and tun the battery upside down and shake it a few times. Maybe even leave it like that over night to fully drain. Do not recharge until you are sure it is dry. And for the love of vaping, don't go sticking any objects, especially metal ones, into the battery! :p

LOL...SAVE ME your toasted batteries!!!!

...I want to salvage and reuse the threaded brass female connectors! I've already built a homebrewed UNI-BALL VX2 passthrough with one of those connectors. If I can get MORE of them, I can build more neat stuff in my spare time. Check out the photos of my UNI-BALL/VX2 passthrough....who knows, you might even get a handy little device in your own mailbox at a not-so-later date......

:)

Well, if its female VX2s your wanting, this one wouldn't have helped you out, it was a m401. I do have at least one, possibly 3 (I need to further investigate, I was on another hiking and canoeing excursion this week, so I didn't bother to get much past the "this doesn't seem to be working phase) dead VX2s. PM me where to send them and you can have them, though I am notoriously slow about dropping things in the mail, so keep that in mind.
