I think the topic was raised before and it was "poopooed" by most if not all but I'm wondering if quitting the cigs and switching to vaping can change metabolism.

I have not changed my routine at all other than making the switch and I have gained weight, enough so that there is no doubt what so ever that there is something going on.

Could, in essence, inhaling sugar be the cause? I'm going to switch to only DIY for a maybe a month and see if it makes a difference as I know a lot of the juices I vape are very sugary, i.e. Boba's Bounty, custards, and the like.

Anyone else experience anything like this?

I doubt vaping changes metabolism as there are a host of other factors to consider.

Such as your taste buds and sense of smell returning.

The fact that your body is now healthier than it was when smoking (causing some of us to gain weight and/or muscle)

Using sodas to hydrate

and other changes in lifestyle

Its natural to want to blame things on vaping but it can also be self defeating and erroneous if its our old addiction rearing its ugly head and whispering fallacies in our ears.

Nicotine once had me believing that vaping was the cause of a lypoma (a benign fatty growth thats typically associated with men in their 40s) and can be very insidious.

Yep.....the positive change is that I no longer crave or eat snacks like I used to. The vaping satisfies that craving.

Same here, right around 13 pounds lost in a couple months. I was also a big fan of snacks and the flavors I use have curbed the desire to snack. All the folks that work with me are bummed, the candy dish on my desk is gone.

I would say yes, but not in the way you have suggested.

If you're vaping more you could have inadvertently slowed your metabolism down,by eating less which could cause your body to store fat.If you're vaping less you could be eating more without realizing it.Your metabolism is going to speed up or slow down based on food intake and exercise. At least as far as I'm aware.

I'm not sure of the actual mechanism but everyone I know who has quit the cancer sticks has gained weight. If you choose the right ingredients you can alter your appetite to compensate.

I've turned myself into a kind of guinea pig buy vaping just anise, or anise in combo with fruit flavors, and I'm just not feeling hunger any more. Just one small meal a day is all I'm taking, any more I just waste. Darn I don't need any more weight, I'm middle aged and struggle to grab the ladies' eyes at it is :(

When you start any weight loss program, the experts agree that you need to up your water intake. They advise half of your weight in ounces every day. When I started my own weight loss program, I did this, and I lost about five pounds in the first two days, just from increasing my water.

Vaping can dehydrate you, which can cause you to gain weight. Up your water intake to that recommended amount, and see if you notice a difference.

I believe it is that Not Smoking is allowing the body to readjust to normal. For some this may show a natural weight increase or even a weight loss. For me it has resulted in no noticeable physical change.
I do feel healthier and breath better. I recover from strenuous activities much faster.

For me Vaping simple satisfies the Nic gremlin.

I have no idea why this question would be poopooed as I know a great number of people in competitive sports and the gym and even just runners and such who have their metabolism down to a science.

I would say that without being able to analyze your liquid by ingredients, it would be hard. It's not injested so its not about caloric intake, however, we already know that even the amount of sleep you get highly affects metabolism.

Sleep, stress levels, etc. affect blood sugar, which affects metabolism.

The only real way to test this is to have your doctor do a blood sugar test, where you don't vape for a period of time for one test, and then vape and see what the numbers are.

Or something similar.

Inhaling sugary stuff, if sleep and stress and a number of other "non caloric factors" have been PROVEN to affect blood sugar, which of course affects metabolism, certainly seems like something worth knowing about.

So you won't get poopoed by me.

The only other thing you can do is write down your exact caloric intake, and if everything else is the same as it always was, and you are not taking in more calories than you have in the past, is to find out what is causing the weight gain.

that would involve having blood tests and thyroid screens, etc. which you can discuss with your GP.
