Can you clean a cartomizerthat has not been emptied?

Can you clean a cartomizer at all? I know that you can clean a regular cart, but not sure about a cartomizer. Here's my issue. When I ordered my KR808, I selected menthol cartridges. After being told that my shipment was delayed because they were on backorder, I selected another flavor - cherry. It is the worst. The taste is okay, but it burns the back of my throat and makes me feel like someone is setting on my chest. (I have alot of allergies and think I may be slightly allergic.) Anyway, I've ordered eliquid and would like to clean all of the cherry out of the 6 cherry cartos I have and use another flavor. Is this possible and if so, what is the process? Thanks!

The majority of my cartos are not empty when I clean them. I fill them and vape for a while and then say, you what?, this baby needs a bath. To be honest I don't try to recoup a mL of juice that is likely to taste funky anyway. I remove the caps and soak them in alcohol for a couple hours, then flush them with lots of hot water for a few minutes, spin dry as much as possible, then finish drying them in a 200 deg oven for an hour. In general they are quite clean after this, and ready to fill.
