I just spoke with a juice vendor about this very subject because I am in the same boat. He said he does not recommend freezing as it would not prolong anything. On the other hand he said if it is un-flavred nic juice the shelf life is about a year and a half to two years. Refrigerated un-flavored nic juice can keep 2 to 4 years. The problem with juices from some vendors is that the flavor will break down over a period of time. What that period of time is depends on who makes it and with what. I have about 900 ml. of juice only 5 weeks old that is loosing it's flavor fast.....so I'm vaping like a race horse lol.

I don't thisnk it's losing flavor. Flavor is just more intense than it should be when a juice is freshly mixed. It takes a little while for everything to "settle" and for all the flavors to "marry". I've got some bottles that I've had over a year that still taste the same. Besides, flavor can be added, it's the nicotine I would worry about losing, because that is what we're paying for.

Well then, when my flavors got together and were married the flavors started out great just like most marriages. But obviously the relationship was a failure because it only took them 5 weeks to start breaking up and are headed for a divorce.

This is a really good question and it would be great to get some clarification. Gum and patches supposedly lose some of their effectiveness once past the expiration date so I would assume that, over time, liquid-based nicotine loses its strength as well.

Some of the juice I've stocked has an expiration date on it (TW does this for both flavored and unflavored liquids). It makes sense that when juice is nearing its expiration date, suppliers would start offering those liquids at a discount. (Grocers do this with dairy and produce so why should eliquid be any different) Question is: if we buy the discounted juice, can we extend its life/potency through refrigeration? Does it make a difference if the bottle is opened/unopened?

Maybe DVap or some of the other chemists can weigh in . . . ?

[later edit: DVap and other chemists have already discussed this . . . see links below]

I know this topic has been raised before on ECF. See the following links for a very thorough discussion (and some excellent information) about oxidation, the impact of flavorings/PG/VG on longevity, contamination issues, storage options, best containers, etc [note: I did a quick search of a few threads. I'm sure there are more links that others can add].

So it appears that before the first of the year the consensus was freezing wouldn't help ( just store in cool dark and dry). Then with Kurt's findings and explanation shortly after 2010, freezing VG (with the guidelines and precautions he recommends) is desirable, and in theory could prolong the shelf life of non flavored nicotine juice for many years. Now all we need is for MFS to have another 50 percent off sale!
