Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or protected ICR?

Explain It To The Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations

Basically, use only an unprotected, high-drain, safe-chemistry IMR battery (not a protected ICR battery) in all vaping devices.

Depending upon the resistance of the coils used in the juice delivery device, choose the amp limits of the choice of batteries (see list of IMR batteries in first link). Anything using coils below 1.0 ohms (resistance rating) should use a battery with a continuous discharge rating of over 10 amps.

I guess just how to read the battery ..it just has rows of numbers and letters..how to know what amp it is..

Can you tell us what type of batteries you have, or what type you're looking at? I don't fully understand what you are asking.

Again, what type device are you using them in?

What ohm coil are wanting to use?

I'd be happy to help, you haven't given enough information.

If you have the batteries, post the brand, and all the information printed on the battery, and we can help you determine what Amp they are.

Most batteries won't have the max discharge rate printed on them, you'd have to look up the specs based on the model of battery it is. At least one of those strings of numbers is likely an identifier, so just post that info or take a quick pic of the battery and somebody should be able to find it for ya :)

Baditude gave you links to Ohm's law and to battery type info. Here's a post with a bunch of links to a loto of great info you can read up on; One Stop Reference Shop For New and Experienced Vapers.

It has links to Baditude's blogs and to a bunch of others including on Ohm's law for vaping and to a online Ohm's law calculator that is pretty easy to use.

As DreamWithin said, amp ratings are rarely printed on batteries and we all have to look them up. Here's a list of some of the typical batts we use with max amp ratings included.

18650 means it is 18 mm diameter and 65 mm long. What any print on them means after that depends on the manufacturers.

I tried, and was unable to find any conclusive information. Here is a picture showing authentic and fake VTC5's. rPU8wnv.jpg
