Hi all..
My Reo and all the bits and pieces arrived today.
I am over the moon.
Now.. I WILL post an excited "My first Reo arrived today" post. I really will, but I have an emergency problem.

When I was building the first coil. Closely following sxmxdrifter's vids, the first time I snugged down the screw on the shorter post, the post itself spun. BEFORE the screw was even tight enough to have a solid grip on the wire.. I was just tightening enough to hold the coil still while I wicked it. NOT overtightened in any way I can assure you
So.. I'm kinda between a rock and a hard place.

If I don't tighten the screw properly, I risk things moving and creating a short.
If I try to tighten the screw enough to hold the coil leg securely, the post itself spins, moving the hole away from the coil..

Help me.
I'm at a loss, but trying to think positively and not be hugely disappointed..

I've never had that problem but I would start by taking out the coil then turning the post with a pin or something inserted thru the hole until it's tight. Then reinstall the coil. See if that helps. :)

If it doesn't, like if it was defective / stripped, I'd PM redeyedancer and while you were waiting for the replacement, stick a factory atty or carto on there and get busy :)

I hear you, but I hate the risks involved.
*If I turn the post itself further (to screw it down further?) I feel I might thread it ?
*If I just turn it a quarter of a turn back, the way it was before I tightened the screw, I'll just be back where I started. It will turn again before I can tighten the screw enough to secure the coil..

Sending out a PM to Robert is always a good idea. Robert will always make things right.

To me it sounds like the post just was not tight when you receive the RM2.

Removing any wire and turning the post to tighten should prevent further turning when tightening the screw.

If you tighten till just till it stops turning easy is the hole facing the juice hole?

I hear ya josh, but no worries man. Worst case is waiting for another RM2 in the mail. I know it sucks to wait but Rob will make any wrongs right post haste.

Let us know when you get it fixed / what the resolution is. Congrats on you setup. Saw it in the other thread. Looks beast :)

I had this happen (assuming I overtightened one of the first elevendy coils I made the first day). Same post same everything.

For a while I was scared to do anything, but it becomes a giant pita to install coils when the post holes face almost opposite directions. Then I just took a safety pin and spun the hole so the post holes were parallel again. I've had no issues, I'm just much more careful when screwing in screws now. Not perfect, I've had adjust a couple times now, and grand/rm2 still work like day one!

As always YMMV.

Big congrats on the REO!

I will definitely take your advice guys.
Thank you so much.
BUT, right now I have it firing ! So I'm sitting back for a few minutes just enjoying a vape on MBV Cinnamon Roll for a bit.
Once my blood pressure is back to normal, I'll take it apart and try to turn the post by hand a little more. Clockwise.
If it gets to the right spot, feels tight enough and stops, I'll be delighted.
If it strips or something unexpected happens...
I'll burst into tears and run around the house tearing my hair out.
Either way. I guess it will be resolved shortly.

BTW:
I'm finding the warmth and the draw perfect for me stock. No need to drill the hole, that's a great thing..
I'm finding the flavour a little less full and a little more TH than I had hoped and am used to.. and I'm getting juice popping and sometimes it's popping up the drip tip into my mouth which is uncool.
I'm guessing both these are related and due to my "Noob-Coil" possibly being a little too high ?

I'm going to research how to build a coil around a bought wick next, although the boiled cotton seems to be working well.
I'll set that coil a little lower.. although wait.. that will then be two variables won't it..

Hmm.. first world problems..

No, but I do think I need to drop my nic level from 12 to 6 now !

I would keep you posted, but Rob is suggesting a few things and I don't want to breach the "private" part of "Private Messages"

Thanks Josh, absolutely agree with you on PMs. Yeah, the Reo takes you down a level on nic.
