Can you use an iTaste VTR to check resistance?

My understanding is that the VTR reads resistance down to 0.6 ohms or so (I wouldn't be surprised if it goes a bit lower, but I certainly wouldn't expect it to read 0.2 or anything. I also believe it fires down to 0.6, but that seems kind of crazy for a 15W device).

As long as you're above the higher sub-ohm range (0.6 ohms or more), I don't see it being a big deal. It would be handy to have some kind of multimeter to check the voltage of your battery as you use your mech, as well as coil resistance, but I think the VTR would be sufficient for now, to ensure that your coils are short-free and of sufficiently high resistance. I would probably get one in the near future, though.

What resistance are you aiming for, for your first coil(s), and can your battery handle it?

VTR is the same chip as the SVD/134

Should read down to ~0.5 and fire as low as ~0.8

You can use it to measure resistance, but understand that that feature is an add on feature and will not be as accurate as a dedicated ohm reader.

Though as long as you are staying within the ranges it is capable of, the variance should not be a safety issue.
