Thank you very much Concat for the link and response. I'm looking for quality for around $100- $150 max. Originally only intended to spend $80. In the beginning I was looking at the eGo Starter Kit
Canadian E-cigarette Happy/Joye eGo Starter Kit - Black, Silver, White, Titanium
or
510 'Kit & Kaboodle' Starter Kit
Canadian E-cigarette Happy/Joye 510 'Kit & Kaboodle' Starter Kit -Black, Silver, Copper, White
until I read about leakage problems and that's when I decided to spend a little more.
I don't much care about the look of the device but do want:
no leakage and long batt life, preferably metal encased.
I also like the Megladon and the GLV-2 because there seems to be a lot less tinkering required (straightening/ pulling out wicks, etc) although I realize there is still maintenance involved. I also like the idea that they are easily adjustable with a number of extra options...versatile button, etc.
Thanks again...I never realized there was sooo much information out there and this forum has been home to me for the past week pretty well 12 hrs per day.

Hey bud - I'm new to vaping and I got to say I'm VERY happy with my first purchase!

I've been vaping for a almost 2 weeks now and the device I purchase was all I ever could have hoped for in a vaporizer and it cost me 69bucks. I got mine at E cigs (Electronic Cigarettes) Canada British Columbia Vancouver Island Victoria BC they are in Victoria BC the kit came with free juice of my choice.

The ONLY thing that KINDA sucks - is that the carts don't hold a lot of Juice. I find myself refilling often - but other than that it kicks but.

I purchased the bogetech LEA. LOOKS AWESOME - FEELS WELL BUILD - NO LEAKS and from reviews no one has experienced leaks - and it's compatible with 510 I believe.

I recommend it 100%.

Bogetech LEA Tank Kit + Bonus 10ml e-juice

The thing I think about spending 150 bucks is the same as what everyone else says... you can't just stop at 1 pv.... I can see myself wanting to try new hardware and different mods in a few weeks :)

Let me know what you think!

The Ego is an excellent PV. It's 510 threaded, which means anything that works on a 510 will work on an Ego. There are many many atomizers and cartomizers that are 510 threaded. The mods you're looking at are also 510 threaded. A battery doesn't cause leakage, only the atomizer/cartomizer does.

Basically, what leaks on an Ego, will leak on the Megalodon. When you talk about wicks and whatnot, it has nothing to do with the battery. That is atomizer/cartomizer dependant.

I usually suggest an Ego, and also buying a few different 510 threaded atomizers to see what you like. You could get the Ego starter kit, a LR (low resistance) Ego atomizer + cartridges, a Ego-T atomizer + cartridges, a LR 510 atomizer + drip tip, a LR 306 atomizer, and some 510 cartomizers. They will all work on the ego and they all taste different and have their own quirks. And if you decide to get a big mod, you can use the same stuff on it provided it's 510 threaded (most are)...

Maybe by then you'll want a box mod that's a bottom feeder.

First kit's gonna be a mod? Kudos. There's going to be a learning curve with whichever one you go with.

That being said, there isn't a perfect pv/ setup out there. It's all different from one person to another. People love Reo's (not knocking it), some don't like the idea of holding a box. It's all relative.

That being said, that issue of leaking (with eGo's) pertains to tanks. If you went with an atomizer, you don't have leaking issues (well, not as much). And it really doesn't matter what you go with. Be it a 510 or 808 or 910 connection. They've got adapters for everything.

For batt life, I think you'll want an 18650 mod. Those batts pack the biggest punch. Unless you go with the Helix. 26650 batt (I have no idea what the mAh rating on it is).

Whatever it is you choose, I'd recommend a drip shield. Therefore any leaking through the atty will be caught by the shield.

I'm not familiar with the Don. Somebody can chime in. Please note that the GLV2 (non-mini) is a 5v device. Do not order an LR atty's with it. Actually, scratch that, somebody posted that the GLV is in fact regulated power set at 11 watts. (I don't have the link). So it doesn't matter what you get.

Might I suggest the Darwin? Regulated power and adjustable. Long batt life. Works well (just ask Chinner or DevilFishPhil).

Welcome to ECF and best of luck in your purchases.

Thank you both very much. My fault but I forgot to mention that I also wanted a powerful batt as I heard it's easier to draw on.

Yes I had looked at the Boge series and had also looked at the Rev2. Thanks again.

Believe it or not I've researched 20 diff models and, fortunately, saved all the info I found on them regarding batts, atomizers and cartomizers. I originally wanted to buy from a Cdn vendor anyways. It's a shame that Cdn vendors have not sought the high end of the market. I want to be very careful as to this purchase as I was laid off 8 months ago and $$ are very tight. Also want to buy a couple of starter kits for the 2 people that opened my mind to vaping. They just have corner store Ecigs and they can afford it even less than me so I'm probably looking at an overall purchase of about $250.00 without accessories or juices. It's all good though. Cheers and thank you so very very much.

Thank you very much and yes I had looked at the Darwin but sadly way out of my price range unless...I don't buy the 2 starter kits...

My head is spinning and I need a break...Thanks once again everyone. I may just bite the bullet and order the Magladon from the UK as the store stateside only has 1 left and may not deliver here. Am waiting for email response. Here's a link of a review by Green Grimm on the Megladon. Quite impressive.

Ok - is the leaking something that happens over time? or is it just something that happens?

Cause I have had 0 leaks and reviews on the LEA have all mentioned the biggest pro is... well 0 leaks.

I really don't want to diss the product but it seems to be hit and miss.

The vast majority are extremely pleased with the product but with my luck...

Thank you Concat. I had looked at all those and have decided on the Megladon from Megalodon (The Don) **NEW VERSION** - Moju Republic

I will be ordering the starter kits from Happy but not until I finish a small job I'm doing.

Thank you all very much once again. Once I have the product I will report back if it is as reviewed.

LOL they are out of stock... :(

I am just a noob but here's a gentleman who reviewed the eGo, liked it but then realized it had low vapor, throat hit and flavor. In the vid below he offers some great tips for resolving those problems. I love the follow up vids:
eGo-T Tank follow up LR low Res attys and some tips & tricks WINNING - YouTube
Good luck, thanks again and I am very glad you're happy with the eGo.
Chinner
Thank you. Yes I had noticed the Meet and I plan to be there. I can really see how this is a community and a lifestyle.
wood
Yes here and everywhere else. Trouble is no one is willing to sell them and/ or they're snatched up very quickly.
Sorry Concat. I just spent some time reading about the different parts and, I think, finally have a slight understanding on beginning to understand the workings of a PV. Seems the accessories are the most important parts for the best result.

e.

Hey, he's reviewing the Ego-Tank atomizer. Not the Ego itself. You can get all sorts of atomizers for the Ego. Hell you can use the Ego Tank on the Megalodon.

The Ego-Tank atomizers are definitely finicky. Not disputing that at all. I guess I just get the impression that you are confusing atomizers and batteries. The Ego battery, is fantastic. It's your choice as to what atomizer you use on it. If you use the Tank atomizer, then yes, you very well may run into some common problems.... just as you would if you used it on a Megalodon.

Whatever battery you decide to get, get a few different types of atomizers to try them all out. Don't discount the Ego because of an atomizer... because the two are mutually exclusive items.

Hi You are askng about some nice mods. I have a GLV you can get it in 3,6, or 5v regulated depending on the head cap and batteries. It is built like a tank. Fantastic button on it and great customer service with a lifetime warranty. 't I also have the Darwin. Can't say enough good things about that unit. The adjustable wattage makes a big difference. Anyone that has tried it has loved it. Almost unbelievable the difference you get in taste just by moving a dial.. That being said I would recommend an Ego to start.
510 thread, manual battery, takes a crap load of attachments You could always get a liquinator tank for it. Holds 3,5.5 or 8 mils of juice. When you have used the ego and then get your mod you will always have a backup if you have to send the mod for repairs. Good luck in making your choice

Thank you drac. The GLV was my first choice but they are out of stock on some items. I also posted a query in the Company forum and pm'ed the owner last night but no response (emailed 2 other companies and got an almost immediate response but I'm sure he's very busy because of the new GLV3 release) so I will be ordering the Megladon. Pity so few retailers carry these awesome products. Yes the Meg also has the 510 thread. I can tell the GLV and Megladon are great products as no one is willing to part with theirs :(

I myself am a reo guy. just got my grand today but have been vaping on a mini for a long time. now with these 2 I really don't need my others much. I have an ego t and also using an mb tank from phatclouds. you should look at one of those as well phatclouds.ca as they hold a lot of juice and an 1100 mah battery. again it's 510 threaded and I use that battery with an ego t. lasts a long time for me as I use specialty flavours in those so I only charge them about 2 times a week
