I first reasoned if e-cig is to be shown safe it will ultimately be approved; the more I research the topic the more uncertain I become.

I have found that a hand full of promising cancer cures have been discovered by scientists. The promising cures are not developed because drug companies can't patent or recover the thousands/millions of dollars it takes to properly test and obtain FDA approval. The research organizations ALA, ACS, etc. are not geared up to bring the new drugs into production either. That means nobody is geared up to bring a promising drug into production unless it is patentable.

What do you think will happen if the e-cig becomes classified as a drug delivery device that requires FDA approval?

Please say I am wrong!

Unfortunately, in our world cash is king. Why would any pharmaceutical company pay millions of dollars to develop a cure which is in most cases a one shot deal? After people are cured or immunized, it will undermine many of their other treatment products and make them obsolete.

Not only that but, imagine the health care nightmare that would exist if so many of us didn't die each year of cancer? Call me a conspiracy theorist, but it is just common sense why diseases like cancer and AIDS are still problems.:(

A lot of people are unaware that cigarettes are and have been considered a drug delivery system. I am of the opinion that if e-cigs were associated with the common and accepted tobacco drug delivery system they would be "grandfathered in" via the FDA. For some reason the e-cig lobbies are distancing themselves from regular tobacco derived products. This places the e-cig in a novel or new category. If one presents a product as "different" it becomes by definition a new product requiring regulation.

Vaporizers are classified as "similiar" products and will easily be made available. The nicotine in the carts/liquids could also be classified as a similar if the emphasis is placed on tobacco derivative versus a pharmaceutical drug. Solanesol, derived from tobacco, is readily available online and has been researched thoroughly.

solanesol - Bing

Nicotine and Solanesol can be found in common veggies:

yes money is the power but also i don't think it will be to long before big tabacco gives up on banning vape around the world. one day they will come to realize that there going to loss all there bussiness on that path and the only way they will make money is if they start to sell e-ciggs. it will be there last resort. Prices will go up but in the end they will finily be doing something good for people even thou that is not how they wanted it to happen. big tabacco will put the money down and get it approved. To top it all off to ensure they still make money over all the lil internet sites they will invest the money required to start making Real e-ciggs that will blow the 510 and SD away. Even as much as i hate to think of them still making money off me. It will at least be a bit more healthy for me and they won't make as much either.
And i have a dream.... wow i typed way to much sorry:)

This is not a conspiracy theory...This is the sad truth...Go to a chemotherapy treatment clinic...300 Recliners FULL of people EVERYDAY of the week...Seats are litterally $3000 to $5000 a seat...Cure WHAT!!!It is a very similar proposition going on with Big Pharm and Big Tobacco and Ecigs right now...Its very sad that we allowed these people to soil our Government for money at the cost of millions of lives...

There are many reasons for distancing e-cigs from regular tobacco derived products. One reason is the obvious similarities. E-cigs visually and in use are similar and people can often mistake one for the other, as evidenced in the public vaping thread. The distance indicates difference.

From a product perspective I was tempted to argue that 'different' is not new or that a new product needs to be regulated but not today. In terms of regulation the separation is, to some extent, a counter to the biases (and in some cases vitriolic opposition) seen, for example, in comment sections. It is a way of getting people to evaluate the e-cig (PV) on its own merits.

It already is: "Based upon our investigation of these products, they are drug/device combinations that require approval by FDA before they may be legally marketed in the United States."

How far they will go to enforce it is a question that they are not inclined to answer:
"As a matter of policy, however, we limit communications about the regulatory status of specific marketed products to those responsible for them, and we do not discuss our enforcement actions except with the targets of those actions."
