I have been vaping for about 2 months. I started with a auto Smoketip kit. I purchased low nicotine cartridges because I am an extremely low nicotine cigarette smoker. I smoke Carlton Menthol. There is less than 1.5mg of nicotine in an entire pack of cigarettes with very low carbon monoxide. This is the lowest cigarette available but it does have a very strong throat hit, stronger than any of the other cigarettes that I used to smoke such as Virginia Slims Menthol and Marlboro Menthol. I have now ordered manual KR batteries and higher nicotine carts and I like them better but I still can't quit. Any suggestions? I would hate to go above 11mg of nicotine!!

Hi. Listen, I'm still new at this too but I was having the same trouble with wanting to keep smoking. The advice I recieved was stronger nictotine juice, and vaping a menthol ejuice for the throat hit. I did just that (and upgraded to an Ego) and I am doing much better now. I start the day with a 24mg menthol (not that you would need that high of nictotine) and switch over to a lower nic mg about halfway thru my morning. Hope this helps a little. Good luck and don't give up. :)

Hi, Suzette! Welcome to ECF! Unfortunately, there isn't a hard or fast correlation between the amount of nicotine in your analogs compared to the nicotine level in e-juice. The cynical side of me says that even though your cigarette pack says "1.5mg of nicotine and low carbon monoxide", it's just an estimate at best, and just not true at worst. If you're still having cravings, I would suggest getting some juice in 18mg and 24mg. You can always bring down the level if it's too strong for you.

I used to smoke Pall Mall Ultra Light 100's. I've been vaping for a little over two months now and I use both 18mg and 24mg juice. It works just fine for me and I'm edging my way toward using the 18mg more than the 24mg.

Wanna do the math? Ok, I will. I'll assume you smoked a pack a day.

Unfortunately, your carltons were not really quite that low in nicotine.
http://www.ftc.gov/foia/frequentrequests/foia2007-00482.pdf
Carltons range from .1 to .6 mg of nicotine per cigarette. At minimum, that's 2mg per pack minimum, and at most, that's 12mg. These are 2005 numbers, but now don't forget the cig companies got busted for raising nicotine levels too.

Now realize that ecigs are an inferior delivery system. You will not get 100% of that nicotine. I've heard estimates from 10 to 40% (don't ask me where, I'll never find it again). So, using a middle of 25%, if you're vaping 1 ml of 11mg/day you're really only getting 2.5 mg of nicotine a day. If you used one of the higher level Carltons, that's considerably lower than what you used on analogs. If that's the case, no wonder you still want analogs! There's also untold other additives in analogs that we have to get over too.

I'm in the same spot that I'm not getting enough nicotine from the ecigs. But higher mg/ml is too uncomfortable yet even with 100% VG based liquids. I'm hoping to slowly bring up the mg/day to bring down the numbers of analogs in a day, but I need to take it slow.

First I would get a better device such as an eGo type PV. Larger batteries provide more consistency and better throat hit to better simulate analogs. Second, I would also recommend moving up to 24mg nicotine strength liquid. Use it until you are successful in making the transition, then over time you can lower it with less chance of falling back on the analogs.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Took me over 3 months to achieve the last 5 days and few hours. It takes a while to find the right juice and concentration of nicotine. Lots of trial and error as far as juice, nicotine concentration and equipment. I started out with 16mg, went to 24mg, then tried 30 mg but found 24mg a better fit for a heavier smoker like me (2-3 packs a day for 36 years), don't be afraid to experment a bit and find what is right for you. Everyone's body and habit are different.

Some days are easier than others I have found too. Last few days have been fairly easy for me to maintain, today has been a harder time, not sure why, but am trying to muddle through and stay "clean." Strike that, I will muddle through and stay "clean", having a positive attitude helps too I have found.

When you are ready you will know it. There is not set time for anyone, although I know how frustrating it is thinking everyone can do it right away and you just can't. But if I can do it, anyone can, and I know you can and will do it too when the time is right. :)

Bluebelle- remember that 15 minute rule that Lisa told you the other day???!!!! Follow it Missy lol!
For anyone that missed it......When you get your strongest urges, vape constantly then ,see how you feel in 15 minutes. I found myself doing this and vaping stronger flavors- for me it was the carmel cream/fireball combination and still is. Also, I vape at 30mg nic, BUT I DO want to cut this back too very slowly if I can.
Suzette- don't worry about going too high on the nic levels for now, you can always adjust those later

I was a light analog smoker, maybe 3 packs of lights a week and that's pushing it and I vape at least 18mg and prefer 24mg. You can't compare the amounts. There are people that were heavy filterless smokers that get by with low nic juice and others like me that need 24 or even 36mg. Do whatever works for you and don't worry about bumping the nic level up a bit. You're body doesn't absorb the nic as fast and vaping isn't as an efficient means of transfer for nic either so that's another reason you might need to bump it up. You also might find you can get by with the lower nic that you are trying to use most of the time but need higher nic juice occasionally when you start to get those cravings. Many vape stronger nic juice in the mornings and then go to less nic. Just do some trial and error and do what works for you.

I do agree that you should go up to the 16mg (if your going to stick with smoketip prefills) or 18mg from most places.
24mg isn't that high...I am happy in the 16-18 range but that is just me, I have no problem vaping a 24mg juice though..you definately wan't a nic level that will stop your cravings.

I don't agree you need to change pv's just yet, the kr808 (your smoketip) offers more battery life than most similar sized 510's that I know of...of course if you do go 100% ecig then yea a larger battery may be something you want at some point.

Been doing that all day, I do remember Lisa's wise words.

Also bought some stronger pg percentage mixture at 24 mg ( I usually like 100% VG) and got a stronger couple of flavors. I did take the plunge today and ordered an Ego kit to help out my weaker but great 510 kit when I need that little bit extra like today seems to be.

Not going to fail or back slide now and I know that Suzette will succeed too. Just have to find that right combination and your time to quit. :)

I think you'll really like the ego kit. Part of the learning curve is identifying what any problem is when you don't get a good hit. It really reduced my frustration to know that the battery wasn't going to be as much of a concern. Most of the time an ego battery usually lasts me all day and I use another, or a passthrough, while it's recharging at night. I do carry a 510 battery or two as a backup. However, I didn't like the cone covers that come with the ego, they reduced the airflow too much. So I sometimes just stick a plain 510 atomizer and cartridge on there, but whatever works! Now I mostly use ego cartomizers, and while those look strange on a 510 battery or passthrough, it works just fine!

I couldn't get off analog's either with the 510's I bought well over a year ago.

Got myself mega ego's and they seem to be doing the trick. Much less work involved (I don't care for the hobby aspect of vaping, I just wanna smoke), much more reliable. Bring 2 of everything with me and I know I'm safe for 24 hours. Easy to keep things charged and filled. Just a 100x better experience with the mega ego's vs the 510's. So maybe try a different e-cig or something, but keep at it. It's awesome that I'm sitting in my indoor office smoking as I write this :)

My old 510's are just going to be emergency kits now. One filled and charged in my office at work, one in the car, one at home. But other then that I'll never touch them again.

lol, but they print the mg on the box. Are you saying they are lying to me? J/K I only smoke 10-12 a day. I went from very high cigarettes to supposedly really low one's with no troubles. I think that gave me the false hope that going e-cig would be so easy.

I have purchased pre-filled carts. A lot of them so I am hesitant to purchase a new e-cig like the 510 or ego. Should I refill the carts myself with a higher nicotine and if I do, VG or PG? Also, I have been doing a lot of reading today! Instead of going to the Ego, has anyone tried the CigEasy Elegant? It looks like an Ego and seems a lot stronger than the regular KR's. I saw on the Cig Easy links that they now have a 1300. Any opinions?

Oh and I wanted to add that I am so glad I found this website. I had no idea that there was so much out there and that there were that many vendors.

Hope my new Ego lives up to all I have read here. Am not too thrilled about that cone look myself. Good to hear you don't need to use it.

I will still use my 510, but since not smoking analoges completely 5 days ago, I have been draining my 510 batteries so quickly it is amazing. Was going to order more batteries, but getting an Ego kit was not that much more expensive than getting 3 more 510 batteries that can't quite handle my almost manic vaping sessions these last few days.
