Can't figure it out....

I wasn't referring to removing ALL of the flavor wicks, but the most certainly do put too much in there. I do this all the time with my Protank heads and it works very well. Flipping the rubber stopper on the stem also works.

It's a new coil, it's not a cleaning problem.

If you want to test my theory, drop a couple drops down the stem onto the coil, if it vapes that well, then you know it's a flow control issue and remove just a couple fine stands on the flavor wick.

Are you SURE it's not vaper's tongue? I went through the exact same thing for the last two days. Freshly rebuilt coils, or not. Different resistance, or not. Different amount of wick, or not. Different wattage/voltage, or not. EVERYTHING tasted like burnt crap, and hit hard on my throat. FINALLY, after eating some spicy tacos, and subsequently brushing my tongue like its never been brushed before, flavor all of a sudden came back. I don't know how or why, but it MIRACULOUSLY reappeared. Every single one of the favors/tanks I had been using, that previously tasted awful, tasted fine if not BETTER than they had before.

Unlikely. The Mini Davide's (which use the same heads) are working and tasting fine. It is gotta be these three heads from the blister pack. I am gonna try one of the spares that came with the G50s just out of curiosity. I am not gonna wash it first or anything.

Also as someone else mentioned, they didnt make those heads, they arnt sitting at a desk all day wicking up heads for your protank way to tight with malicious intent, or maybe they are, that would be kinda cool if they were actually but thats a hole nother story. Anyway, the gromet that your wondering about is infact the one on the stem, flip it up you can get minimal better wicking. By removing a strand or two of the flavor wick that sits on top of the regular wick inside the coil you can increase wicking. Do it small stand, test, small strand, test, or youll end up with flooding and a trashed head. 3. throw it away grab some cotton and rewick it anyway. Then imagine the dudes satisfaction while they sit at there table wickin up tight protank coils just to ruin YOUR day. Yes.

There's a little cup with a hole that goes on top of the main shaft of the head, lift it up turn it upside down so that the cup is facing up and replace. See if that makes a a difference.

Mesh is awesome in the protank heads. Good work seeing that you are a new member. Have you tried microcoils yet?

Burnt taste = dry wick which can have a couple causes.

I put a piece of 1mm silica or a pinch of cotton it works good. You can pulse oxidize it with a mech or torch it to prepare it.

I swish cool/cold water when I get dry mouth/vapor toubge and usually helps with the burnt (but nothings actually burnt) taste.

You can't blame the vendor, bro, they didn't MAKE the coils. If yer gonna blast someone, you have to go to the manufacturer, in this case probably Kanger. I moved on to cartotanks because I had constant issues with the consistency of clearo heads. Sometimes they were great, sometimes leaky, sometimes tasted like crap, sometimes great vapor, sometimes little, etc. I still get the occasional crap carto, but far more rare in my experience. Sucks, but sometimes in vaping you get a bad batch. Most you can do is shoot off an angry email to China and be glad you're only out 5 bucks.
