Hi, this is my first post! I just got my Joye 510 kit in yesterday and ive been smoking the Malboro Red that came with the kit. Ive added a few drops of menthol to the cart after smoking it down a bit. The menthol was 24 mg from Nicotine Nirvana. I smoked a bit for about 2 hours but I didnt get any nicotine fix. Im not a heavy smoker (little more that a half a pack a day). Why cant I get my fix?

Im new so please help with the lingo if you have to use any in reply. I do love my 510 so far tho.

welcome to the ECF!!

remember that smoking (combustion of tobacco) gives you thousands of other things besides nicotine, which all combine to give you that 'satisfied' feeling, or head rush, or whatever. for some, it takes time to find the right combination of what works for them, including nic strength and frequency of draws.

try the exhale through the nose, as well as direct inhale (as opposed to drawing into your mouth and then inhaling).

Yep. And?

It took me weeks to find a flavor and strength to work for me. I also think there are other things that are addictive in tobacco other than nic. Plus I thought the prefilled carts were next to useless.

So, my advice, order some small bottles of juice. Different flavors & strengths and don't fret about smoking. You've smoked before so it's not new. Just sub the vape for as many cigs as possible. Then try out your orders as they come in.

Keep reading here. Ask for help. Let us know what flavor gave you some satisfaction. And what nic level killed a craving, even if it is short lived.

It can take some time. Not all quit as soon as their PV arrived.

You'll be fine.

The first week can can be difficult.
You said you coudn't get your fix, but did you actually get a nicotine fit for a harmful cigarette while vaporing? If you do get a nicotine fit, just vape again. I don't know about your 510, mine is just a two piece KR808 based from V4L and I really like it, excellent voltage and milliamp hour ratings too.

Another difference, other than all the chemical, is the feeling of "completion" I guess you could call it. When you finish an analogue you put it out in an ashtray or step on or flick it out a window. With an e-cig you don't get that. When I started vaping about a month and a half ago I noticed rather quickly that I would vape for an hour strait without stopping because there was nothing that forced me to stop. A lot of my friends have experienced the same thing. Smoking is more than an addiction to nicotine it's a habit in every way. Change that habit in the smallest ways and things feel off. Think about it. Have you ever been smoking a cig and you smoke 90% of it then, let's say, your significant other asks for a hit, polishes it off and puts it out? How do you feel after? I know I usually ended up lighting another one up just so I could have that moment of completion. It's not that I needed the nicotine it's that I needed to complete the ritual of my habit or I didn't feel satisfied. This is why the e-cig lack of "putting it out" was odd at first and I didn't get the same satisfaction. I eventually just started miming putting it out on a nearby surface to just trick my brain into thinking I was done. Yes, I looked completely insane doing it. However, eventually the habit changed and now I can feel perfectly satisfied taking a few drags and putting it back in it's case.

Welcome to ECF!

First off, the nicotine fix from an e-cig isn't anything like what you get from a cigarette. The buzz you get from those is actually all the other chemicals making you light headed because the human body wasn't made to process carbon monoxide and the like. With the e-cig it's more like you just simply don't want a cigarette. If you vape too much you can definitely start to get dizzy and nauseous, but for the most part there just isn't any real physical effect.

It also can take time. A lot of us found that our cigarette usage dropped over days, weeks, or even months. Some have only cut down, and the theory behind that is that there is something else in analogs that we can be addicted to, like MAOIs.

You're best bet is not to deny yourself since analogs can become a big thing to your subconsious when you do. Just keep your cart topped off when it starts to get dry and, for now, smoke when you feel like you have to. You will probably find your need for them lessening as time goes on.

Good luck with it.

You know what you might wanna try.... put a little PGA (Pure Grain Alcohol{everclear}) in you liquid. About 5 drops for 15 ml is what I use when I mix my own juice. It increases the throat hit and makes the vapor feel more like smoke (tiny little burn in the throat). Little tricks like this help sometimes.

I think there is also a difference in absorbtion rate with e-cigs compared to analogs. For me, 24mg/ml is the starting point, and I also use 36mg/ml. Although I noticed I take fewer drags when using the higher concentration, it also seems to hit sooner.

My first transition to a non cigarette flavor was cappucinno, which still had a slight burnt taste like the drink, but allowed me to transition to something that no longer tasted like a cigarette. Then I found myself not liking the taste of the analogs anymore.
